  1. Based on the fact that 2.9 appeared as a listing at E3, I would say there is a very good chance it could be. Not to mention that most Square-Enix Japan developed titles are announced at TGS, so it would be a perfect time for it. 2.9 will have to be something pretty special though if it is worth classifying as "secret" as I don't think any simple Remaster or HD update is worth hyping that much.
  2. Lightning, since she is probably about as famous and popular as Cloud is. It would also be really cool if they included a FFXV character in there, but since we know so little about all of them I can't say who would be best. I would love to see Kefka worked in somehow, but I think he may be too dark of a character to include in KH. Overall, I would just love some more serious representation of FF.
  3. It really could be that anything classic was done in 2D, but I have to give 2D the edge. The problem with CGA is that it may look good at the time, but down the road it ends up looking clunky as newer CGA stuff is released. With 2D, the feeling of it never really changes; yes there is more modern 2D style stuff that looks gorgeous, but it doesn't take away from the beauty of the older stuff. I love stop-motion style as well, I just haven't watched or found many movies in that genre to really make me love it as much as others do.
  4. I find both aspects important as both of them are what has made the KH series so loved, so I enjoy a conversation about either, but I always have to give the upper hand to talking about story as it is open to interpretation. The only times when I have really preferred talking about the gameplay is when there is a new mechanic introduced.
  5. I worry that Nomura will spend too much time focusing on some characters and just throwing some characters away. As a example, I fear that he may spend too much time focusing on Lea & Kairi since they are new keyblade wielders and forget to give proper time to characters like Namine or Roxas. Nomura brought so many characters back in DDD that he has built an expectation that each of those characters will have meaning in 3, and I am not sure if he will be able to pull it off.
  6. Scenario, but I only typically only get critical of a scenario if it is an RPG. When it comes to other genres, I don't really care as much because stories outside of RPGs don't tend to stray too far from their roots, so those are typically all based on gameplay for me.
  7. Obviously we have all spent the past few days wracking our brains trying to figure out what 2.9 could possibly be, and I have come to a point where I am pretty confident in my belief of what it is, what is was going to be, or what it will be. (Just to make it clear, this may very well be a scrapped idea that will never come to fruition) 1. DDDHD (Game) This is the one thing I believe above all else will be in 2.9 regardless of what else could be included. Nomura has clearly stated that he does not want DDD left out of this Playstation treatment, and rightfully so, especially seeing how vital DDD will be to understanding what KH3 is about. I do not believe that there will be any sort of Final Mix version like some believe, I believe this will just be a straight port with HD updates (with some revisions of course to account for no touch screen). I also put this because it would be the main draw if this is a collection of some sorts. 2. Birth By Sleep -Volume Two- (Most likely cutscenes, slim chance of being a game) This is easily the most controversial thing that people are discussing in regards to what 2.9 could be. The fanbase is very split on their beliefs of V2: Some believe it is a secret title that Square has been working on, some believe it will happen after KH3, some believe it will be told through KH3, and others believe it is a totally scrapped idea altogether. I will just start by saying that this story does indeed exist, as when Nomura was asked when 2.5 was released about his recommendation for BBS FM, he talked about the secret episode, and made it very clear that the Volume Two reference is still there, even though he was not asked about it specifically. Nomura clearly still has something he wants to say with Volume Two. As far as I sit on the subject, I believe that this story will be told before KH3 in some form. This story is focused on what Aqua did throughout her time in the RoD, and unless Aqua remains a key player after KH3 (Which I highly hope she does) there is no good in releasing it afterwards, especially considering that this story will most likely pertain to the Xehanort Saga and would help answer some questions, which means that releasing it after KH3 would mean that KH3 would not tie up all loose ends like it should. As far as to how the story will be told, I am pretty convinced it will be told through cutscenes, as it would require a lot less work and since it is a "fragmentary passage", cutscenes would probably be the best way to go about it. I only say a slight chance of it being a game because Square knows how to pull a secret title out of nowhere (FFVII Remake anyone?) 3. KH3 Demo (PS4 Download) This is probably the thing that has had most people confused. Ever since "Attraction Flow" was named under the 2.9 listing, people have been curious as to what it could be, especially since 2.9 is also listed as a PS3 game. I believe that a download demo for KH3 is what makes the most sense here, in a nearly identical way to the FFXV demo. This would also be a huge way to increase PS4 sales. As many know, Japan hasn't completely embraced the PS4 with most people still using their PS3 console, so what better incentive to get people to make the move than a demo for one of the most highly anticipated games? This would allow for those still comfortable with their PS3 to still get 2.9 and not miss the main attraction of it, but it would also help push PS4 sales for those who want to have that little something extra. The only thing about this is that this would exclude those who have a Xbox One (although the demo could come to it by some other offering). I don't claim to be right about any of this, but I highly believe that this is what would make the most sense in order to sell units. I stray away from the idea of this including 1.5 and 2.5 because of the PS3 listing, as it would make more sense just to do DDD as a downloadable title rather than have it bundled with those 2 collections that any KH fan would already have, and Nomura has made it clear that as of now there are no plans to bring those games to PS4. (This is assuming that 2.9 is more than just DDDHD) I would love to hear some feedback and would also love to hear what your definitive answer is on what you believe 2.9 is (considering it may be announced in a week).
  8. No solid date yet, but it is expected to come out before the end of the year. When they first announced Unchained X Nomura said that the NA version was in the testing phase so I honestly wouldn't expect too long of a wait before we receive it.
  9. Everything but the Vita, which I do intend to get eventually. Sony's platforms have always impressed me and they were what I grew up with, so I am admittedly a Sony fanboy.
  10. They didn't cancel it because it was never anything to begin with, just an idea Nomura had. Nomura has said he would like to tell it's story, but it is unclear whether he wants to do that through a game or some other medium.
  11. I would really hope it would be, mainly because I think it has the potential to have a very rich and engaging story, but I don't know if I can believe that they have been working on V2 amidst all the other projects they have had. I am not going to expect it, but I would love it if it were included.
  12. I mostly want a co-op mode to take on tasks or superbosses, but a PVP option would be nice. I also wouldn't mind some social features put in.
  13. Everyone has been giving KH13 credit for this find, IGN knew they would have looked like even bigger idiots if they had tried to steal the credit.
  14. I voted for DDDHD and BBSV2, because that is what I would want it to be, but chances are it is just 1.5+2.5 with DDDHD and possibly a Kh3 demo since the attraction flow is listed.
  15. I don't even know what to believe anymore. I am officially taking everything with a grain of salt until after D23.
  16. I have always thought this and always loved this feature of the two series. The only thing that makes Tales more approachable is it's names since they are not numbered. Without ever studying it someone could pick up Tales of Xillia and think it was the first game in the series, while people look at FFXV and think that they need to play 14 other games in order to be caught up. These two series (along with Dragon Quest) have shown why this "new seperate story every game" formula works well as they are all the top selling names in Japan.
  17. There will have to be a substantial gap if they want Kairi and Lea to be competent using their keyblades, otherwise they would have to have time jumps within the game itself. I think a few months will be a perfectly suitable gap.
  18. As anyone who has been (trying) to play Unchained X knows, there has been countless issues with the game. The main stem of these issues is the fact that so many people from around the world have been trying to access the game, even though this was just supposed to be for Japan. Due to the overload on servers, they have literally shut the game down for massive repairs to the servers. Based on the complete overload that they have received, do you believe that this will prompt Square Enix to speed up the work on their localization of the game so that they can get more people off of the Japanese servers?
  19. What makes Graces battle system so good is that it doesn't punish magic users. All the other games have the SP and when your magic users run out of it they are screwed because they can't hold their own in a physical fight. It is also great because of A-artes, which helped make every single attack feel special. Xillia's battle system is rather bland in my opinion as it sticks very closely to almost all other JRPGs do.
  20. I hate to burst your bubble but they based this games gameplay off of Graces battle system
  21. Doubtful, I am sure that Square will hold some sort of launch event, but I doubt any big retailers will be doing a midnight release. Midnight releases are usually for big name western titles like GTA or COD, games that have huge a huge installment base. JRPGS in the west have a large install base, but rarely is it ever big enough to justify a midnight release. That being said, I would love if there was a midnight release.
  22. I had full intentions of waiting for the NA release, but what the heck, can't hurt to get familiar with the gameplay at least.
  23. You may want to hold your breath about Berseria. The reason Japanese developers still make games for the PS3 is because most people in Japan still have a PS3 and haven't adopted a PS4 yet. Here in America where a majority have switched, they aren't making PS3 games. The new Star Ocean is a good example: It is releasing on both platforms there, but only on PS4 here. Zestiria is another example, released only on PS3 in Japan, but being ported to PS4 here because that is where they believe the strongest sales will come from since most people in the west have a PS4. Even the collector's edition is only for PS4 users. I am pretty positive the Berseria will see a PS3 & PS4 launch in japan, but only a PS4 release in the western markets. It doesn't make sense for them to release a game on the PS3 in the west because the sales figures won't be there to justify it.
  24. It will either come after KH3 or the details of the plot will be intertwined with KH3.
