My thoughts/questions/concerns about FFXV right now
I've been on the hype train for FFXV for the past day or so. I am REALLY excited to play the demo for this game, and I'm so glad that it looks like it's almost complete. Still, I have a few thoughts that I want to share on this thread and hopefully discuss with you guys. So about the trailer: obviously, this trailer has a big "road trip" vibe to it. I also read somewhere that part of what we see in this trailer is in the demo, and they also said that the demo is from near the beginning of the game, so my assumption for this is that we enter the story where Noctis and co. are returning from a long trip/vacation or something and are making their way home, and everything will hit the fan on their arrival. On top of that, the "treaty" that they're discussing on the radio is probably the point where Emperor Eldercapt begins to threaten the king. I guess that's a fairly obvious assumption, but hey I'm excited, so may as well talk about it. Now the gameplay is something that's beginning to confuse me. The trailer we saw in 2013 gave us this HUD (with the character names and HP on the opposite side of the screen): But yesterday, we see this: So here, we see four slots: As they said in neogaf, the general gist of what we're seeing here, in terms of the HUD, is: -----------<>Attack] >>Goblin [Noctis 3776 -----------<>Attack] >>Behemoth [ignis 2233 -----<> Defend] [Gladio 2987 -----------<>Attack] >> Goblin [Prompto 3147 So essentially, this seems kinda similar to FFXII's HUD, where we see the character names, next to what the character is doing. Also, note the yellow-ish dots near the right part of the white HP line under the character's names. I'm curious as to what these dots represent, because they must be there for a reason. these dots appear at different points on each character's HP line. (go to full screen and HD on this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJrXCfVKXEA if you can't see what I'm talking about. they're hard to see) So what happened to the old HUD? I'm concerned, because a lot of people are saying (and for all I know, this could be just a rumor) that the director said that you hold down the defend button to block/avoid attacks. I'm not sure what I think about that. But I'd kinda like to know: what about menus where you can see which button does what? What about the magic menu that we saw in the e3 one? How do we know which magic attack we're selecting? I'm not sure I want to see just one button for magic and have that just automatically use it (with no apparent MP cost, as far as I can tell). And my biggest question: what happened to the weapon reel? I'm kinda bummed that we don't see that here. This isn't to say that I dislike the new HUD. It's fine, especially because it's good to see what all the characters are doing. I'm just concerned about what it's implications are for the gameplay. But even then, perhaps it isn't even the final one. Seeing as that new video just showed the directors messing with the environment and all that, maybe they just weren't showing us any of the other menus we'd usually see. So perhaps there are other menus, and it alternates between them. Of course, I guess we won't find out for sure for a little bit, so this is more speculation than anything else. That being said, I'm sure the game will be a blast. FFXV seems extremely ambitious, and I'm excited that they said it's going to be a massive open world. And it looks beautiful too! Like, look at this! Freaking look at this! And if the demo is four to five hours long for people who like exploring (still more gameplay than MGS5:GZ), imagine how long the actual game will be! I am super excited for this game. What are your guys' thoughts?

FFXV/Type-0 HD/Agito stage event in 1080p - includes new footage
This is awesome. Though why is it that all the videos of this that I'm finding are only 240p?

Do You Think Luna = Stella?
Yeah, they didn't say that the one in the trailer is Luna. They just mentioned her name.

Out of curiosity- where did you get those T-frame pictures? Is that something released by SE recently?- Your most anticipated game for the rest of the year?

- If You Thought the KH 2.5 Pre-order Bonus Was Bad
That's weird that Ubisoft would have such a lame preorder bonus for that game, considering their preorder bonus for Far Cry 4 is a freaking harpoon gun. Like, that's pretty cool. I'm surprised that they'd come up with something so lame at the same time O_o- So, I'm thinking about doing another review. So would you guys like me to go to the future again ...
No, that rant was true. I meant "serious" as opposed to a silly review like mine of FFXV where I review something not-yet-existent- Jim's status update
So, I'm thinking about doing another review. So would you guys like me to go to the future again and review kingdom hearts 3? Or should I stay in the present and give a serious review of Guardians of the Galaxy?- can u close the door with your butt?
that depends on the severity of the wedgie that you're willing to get- Jim Reviews! Final Fantasy XV
I will. I'll need twenty straight days of playing it non-stop to finish it though, so give me time.- Jim Reviews! Final Fantasy XV
Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you my review of the long-awaited Final Fantasy XV. And now that I've finished the 200 hour main storyline, done all of the 398 sidequests, and explored every inch of the open world that makes Just Cause 2 look like a pixel, I feel I am finally ready to review it. Gameplay: The gameplay is exactly the way it seems in the trailers. There are 8,963,547 weapons in this game, and they can all be combined in combos that are completely unique for every combination of weapons. The battle system allows you to literally do anything with simple button combinations. Combinations of three different buttons can allow attacks from things like swinging your weapon, to pooping on the enemies' heads, to going all God of War on their butts and ripping off their heads, to impregnating them with an alien and teaming up with the resulting fetus. Noctis can teleport from one end of the entire map to the other, as the entire map is loaded and rendered when you start up the game with only a brief three-hour loading screen. It's a true next gen battle system, and it quite impressed me. I particularly liked the way it implemented elements of strategy RPGs, Turn Based RPGs, first person shooters, third person shooters, second person shooters, puzzle games, platformers, sidescrollers, action adventures, comedies, and Batman, without making any part of gameplay feel forced. Graphics: The game runs at an acceptable 300 frames per second, which may be too low for some people, but I found it to be fine. It runs at 4k resolution, which again could bother you, but if you're not picky like me, it's fine. Characters are given plenty of detail, with all the characters having twice as many hairs on their head as an actual human being, and each hair running on its own unique code for realistic wind effects. I was, however, disappointed that they did not bother to code obvious details like nose hairs or droplets of sweat in real time, and I didn't like when the game sometimes began chugging at a sluggish 299.9 frames per second. Story: Think of a cross between a political thriller, romantic comedy, superhero movie, Human Centipede, and a space opera, along with a nice dash of silent film musicals. There's a bunch of emotional scenes, like the one involving the death of all the main characters that I won't spoil, for those of you who still want to play it. It all works very well. Especially with with its all-star voice cast including Troy Baker as two of the playable characters, with other characters being voiced by other popular stars, including Nolan North, Woody Harrelson, Dave Gallagher, Steve Carrel, that person from Game of Thrones, Samuel L. Jackson, and Heath Ledger. Immersion/Polish: Remember the days when you played FFX and nobody said Tidus's name because you decided what his name was? Well those days are no more! You can choose Noctis's name, and each and every line of dialogue in the game is pre-recorded for every combination of letters in the English language that you can use for it. On top of that, you can choose which gender Noctis identifies as! Noctis is always a biological male, but you can choose which pronouns that he identifies as in that playthrough! You can type the pronouns specifically for it, or you can just choose male or female, you oppressive cis scum. I found all of these elements to be incredibly immersive, and really made me feel like I was part of the game. It's also impressive that every single one of the 398 sidequests each introduce a new gameplay element that doesn't feel at all out of place. Final Fantasy 15 is a mile stone in the Final Fantasy series, not only because it's the first Final Fantasy game whose number also indicates the number of discs that the game is presented on, but also because of how much fun it is. It may just be the best Final Fantasy so far, and I enjoyed every minute of my 29,234,073,892 hour playthrough Overall: 9/10- Squirting Demyx Reviews: Pants
