  1. If you had to sit down and critically analyze it, KH is pretty stupid, but for whatever reason the stupidity doesn't bother me at all. It's too much of a fun ride, and it helps that I came into the series rather late, which let me see the games as a big picture. I think a lot of fans' disappointment comes from how a lot of them watched the story unfold game-by-game, giving them time to form preconceived notions and getting disappointed by retcons and poor pacing.
  2. The story itself is a complicated mess, but the lore and the philosophies surrounding them gives KH more weight than you'd expect from the premise (funny how "fanfic story" is generally used as an insult). I won't argue whether or not its themes are explored to their fullest (if I had to dig deep, they're probably not), but there's some prominent existential themes going on: what it means to exist; what it takes to be your own person; how you're shaped by the sum of your memories, and destroying even one memory can potentially impact who you are as a person -- and how others view you; how bright lights cast the greatest shadows, which can mean the better/purer something is, the more the imperfections are prominent (think of a single black spot on an otherwise stark white painting, versus a white canvas filled with black spots). Even if the games themselves use those themes more literally than metaphorically (if you lose your memories, you actually disappear), the sentiment is still there, and it gives me something to chew on. And it doesn't matter whether or not my interpretations are correct, or if it's actually what the games had in mind -- the important part is that I can stop and analyze and think. Isn't that what depth is?
  3. None of them, but especially Riku and/or Terra since the fanbase has it out for them for some reason (why do "bad boys" have such a high casualty rate?). KH wrote itself into a corner for any protagonist's death to be meaningful without undoing the work it took to get them in a position to die. All this work towards saving everyone and atonement and giving folks a chance at their own existence, and you want them to be killed off again? We're this far in, so KH might as well preserve its own track record for not letting anyone die for good.
  4. NateWantsToBattle, MandoPony, and Madame Macabre gave me my favorite FNaF songs. This one gets stuck in my head a lot:
  5. What's the point of a budget if there's no room in it for a stupid Jurassic World raptor toy? Thank my best friend for managing to justify a poor but awesome financial decision.
  6. Hype leads to nothing but disappointment, so I'll continue on with detached optimism and accept the final product for however it is -- which will either be really awesome, really awful, or... just another horror movie that just happens to be about FNaF.
  7. It's too much effort to use my brain right now.
  8. I was planning on going to the beach at some point, but now that you bring this up I wonder if I can stick Kairi's letter in a bottle and blow someone's mind (or make a non-fan think they found someone's love letter for a mermaid).
  9. See, it's things like these that should restore peoples' faith in humanity, which makes me wonder why they gave it up to begin with. (Maybe if they had some coins to spare...)
  10. I took it to mean Riku thought that Xion's keyblade really isn't "hers," since she herself was fake and that she was was siphoning/copying the power from Roxas. Functionally, you're right, it doesn't seem to be different from anyone else's keyblades. Maybe it was the origin Riku was getting at. The artificiality probably isn't the same as the normal man-made keyblades, but it's hard to say since we don't know what exactly goes into keyblade manufacturing. (Now I'm picturing some sort of factory for mass keyblade production, complete with foreman holding a clipboard.)
  11. If a work is popular and you like it, then that means the work is great. If a work is popular and you DON'T like it, then that means the work is garbage. 'Tis the rule of FNaF... or anything that gets big, really.

In terms of how it could apply to KH, I mainly had the memory orbs in mind. I can easily see something like that translated to KH's concept of memories, how they can shape someone's heart, and can be lost or even destroyed.

Yeah, the comedy for the most part didn't have the sharpness of some of Pixar's other films. Riley did manage to give me good feels (I'll admit, I choked up at the climax. But it was only Riley. Joy and Sadness bugged me sometimes, and the other characters did the best they could but they otherwise couldn't accomplish much.
  14. I never associated Jack or Halloween Town in particular with death. It's more a celebration of good-natured fear, not the afterlife. Jack's not out to (intentionally) hurt anyone, so I doubt he'd get along with someone like Hades. Though, I'm sure the Underworld would give Jack a few hundred ideas for the next Halloween.
  15. Meaningless jump scares annoy me. In fact, I think it's amusing how many indie horror games think they can scare me just by throwing some loud noises my way. It's like the game knows I'll get bored wandering around their empty Unity-based hallway. It can certainly startle me, but I can get started by a smiling picture of a cute ghost if it's sudden enough and accompanied by a loud noise -- a mechanic pointed out in (appropriately) Spooky's House of Jump Scares. FNaF4, on the other hand, can freak me out just by watching a Youtube video of it. No game in recent memory managed to accomplish that. In fact, I'd say it has the most effective use of jump scares I've seen in a long time, arguably even more than FNaF1. Oh snap, I went there. *snap*

I liked it but to be honest it wasn't one of my favorite Pixar films. I actually spent more time thinking about how its mechanics could apply to KH than paying attention to the movie itself. I dunno, something about the characters and the pacing felt off to me.
  17. Maybe it's my mind that's in the gutter. I blame the internet entirely.
  18. Waitwaitwaitwaitwaitwaitwait oh firetruck I didn't know you were Winner. GOD DAMMIT THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN PEOPLE CONSTANTLY CHANGE THEIR USERNAMES Well you're still Winner in my book. ErectZombie is a brain-melting image.
  19. "Someone needs to die because it's the only way I can take KH seriously."
  20. I wouldn't consider Grave of Fireflies a good example to name shows that just throw characters at you and kill them off, because, death. If you want characters who exist to do nothing but die, go watch Bokurano.
  21. Raining like a motherfiretrucker, thunder and all. It's like California is making up for all the heat lately, in the way an excessive apology winds up being more annoying than the slight. You're forgiven, California, so can I go someplace on my Saturday without geting apologize'd on?
  22. As I mentioned, nothing exploded, so thankfully, virus = very no. But, I will admit that explosions would make for a very interesting day.
  23. First day working as a computer tech and no one yelled at me and nothing exploded. I call that a good sign.
