  1. Couldn't agree more. It's one of two games I got the platinum trophy on (the other one being the OG Ratchet & Clank- go figure), and I've loved all of it. Super tight controls, plenty to do and collect, and some of the most gorgeous graphics in any video game, like, ever (plus a perfectly consistent frame rate, which for all the crazy shit that happens on screen sometimes is really impressive). One of the best in a great series and one of the best PS4 games available, especially since it's down to $20 at most places by now. I have no doubt the story would be stronger if it weren't technically a movie tie-in game, Insomniac specifically said that the game wasn't going to focus on the story since the movie was going to cover that. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your point of view) the movie bombed hard in theaters so there likely won't be another one, so the next game will almost certainly have a stronger narrative.
  2. If this were a fair and just world, Ratchet & Clank would be a top contender. Since this isn't, Uncharted 4 will probably sweep every kind of award because the industry loves jerking off to Naughty Dog games.
  3. WOW, Watch Dogs 2 even made the list? Western open world games usually don't attract much attention in Japan.
  4. Well yeah, I was joking, but it is surprising to me how little they showed given how many people are already skeptical of the whole premise. A couple seconds of Bryan Cranston or even a Zord doing something badass could have been interesting to people who aren't already sold. All we got so far was outcast teens who occasionally make snarky comments and what seems like a very basic super-hero origin story; kinda disappointing for a trailer.
  5. I really need to stop not visiting this site for weeks at a time.
  6. Meh. It looks like they're taking the whole premise way too seriously; Power Rangers is best when it's cheesy and cartoony, not gritty and brooding teen drama. plus where's my bryan cranston zordon that's the biggest draw for this firetrucking thing dammit
  7. The game wasn't even on my radar until I played the demo, but Dragon Quest Builders seems pretty rad. It's obviously Minecraft but with actual direction and story to it, and I can dig that. (Not enough to drop $60 on it, but still.)
  8. Oh, I am all about tubby Nazi Osment. Nah, he was in the movie Sex Ed in 2014. Granted it kinda sucked, but he was by far the best part of it and is still clearly a very good actor.
  9. Damn right he'll be missed. One of the best actors I'd ever seen in any media; his movies are some of my favorite of all time.
  10. What gave it away? The fact that Sonic goes Super Saiyan on a regular basis since 1991?
  11. Adam West is in fact best Batman, and was honestly way cooler than the Batman comics of the time (most 60's Batman comics were Batman and Robin getting the shit kicked out of them by the random villain of the month until either the villain died of Batman just decided to catch them). That said, still do love badass Batman. Not every interpretation if full-on grimdark, y'know.
  12. Couldn't care less about Darth Vader, but the new cast of characters and the fact that they seem to actually have, y'know, character, is super encouraging. I'm actually interested in this movie now. Plus K-2SO looks like the closest we'll ever get to HK-47 on the big screen, and I am allllllll about that.
  13. I thought I heard somewhere that Nintendo planned on revealing the NX sometime in the fall? It's been a while since I heard so I'm probably way off, but the Tokyo Games Show is in Spetember, so maybe then? I mean, I get why they didn't at E3- that would take attention away from Zelda, which was a huge deal, and given that Nintendo seems to want to build up a large launch library, they might not want to (or be able to) announce new games right away. Still, would have loved some info on the damn thing. At least a finalized name.
  14. It's funny, I just started playing Fallout: New Vegas again as a palette cleanser after Fallout 4, and oh my god I could play that game forever. New Vegas hits all the right notes for me, I love it.
  15. If you're up for kaiju, Godzilla: Final Wars is pretty much the best action movie I've ever seen. You kind of need some basic knowledge of other kaiju like Mothra and Godzilla Junior (stuff you could Google, really) but like half the movie is just Godzilla beating the shit out of other kaiju with pro wrestling moves, plus some actual halfway decent human sized fight scenes too. It's pretty legit all around.
  16. Pff. Good firetrucking luck. After all the news that came out about their shitty business practices and employee abuse, I can't see myself ever supporting them again, not unless there's some major management changes.
  17. I can understand that, MGSV does have a much different feel than any other Metal Gear game. (I personally love the open world aspect, though I tend to like open world games in general.) And I never really cared much for The Boss as a character at all (didn't care for much of MGS3) so Peacewalker didn't bother me that much on the story front, but I can see why it would frustrate a fan. I really did like the mission based structure of Peacewalker- I like it in MGSV too, but those missions tend to go on for a very long time. Due to it being a portable game, Peacewalker's were forced to be short and sweet, little bite sized missions that I can tackle a little bit at a time or binge all at once if I felt like it. Plus the upgrading of equipment the more you used it was nice, and the mech boss battles were some of my favorite in the series. But like you said, different strokes. I'm glad we could have a civil discussion about this.
  18. Really? MGSV is pretty great, I think. I'm only about a quarter of the way through TPP and I'm fully expecting the story to take a nosedive, but the gameplay has been rock solid so far. Also, no Peacewalker? I really liked that one, more than most of the numbered titles honestly.
  19. That's for the best. Han Solo in the original Star Wars scoffed at the idea of a rebellion and never implied that he ever had anything to do with the rebels before he met Luke and Obi-Wan. It'd be weird to include him in this movie.
  20. Yeah, more or less. 2 was pretty shitty in a lot of ways- mostly the story- but as a game, it was pretty much an improved version of MGS1, which everyone loved. I really don't get all the hate.
  21. BioShock 2. That's the game that the fewest people actually like in the franchise, which is baffling to me because it's got tight gameplay, cool unique weapons and powers, and a story that doesn't rely on a huge twist to be impactful. Also, more embarrassingly, Postal 2. It's a crude, unfunny, poorly made FPS, but somehow it strikes a chord that resonates with the dumb, immature part of my brain. Something about asking someone to sign my firetrucking petition and them shooting them with an assault rifle I earlier jammed up a cat's butthole makes me happy in a really stupid way.
  22. I love this example because it proves my point perfectly: Nintendo never stopped making Mario games in order to focus on Chibi Robo. They didn't kill off the Mario franchise in order to bring new or old IPs into the forefront. They kept their focus on the big money makers like Mario, Pokemon, Zelda, etc., and made Chibi Robo on the side. Same thing with Sega; they keep their focus on Sonic- their big moneymaker- while still making less popular games like Yakuza and Valkyria Chronicles. There's no reason to kill off the Sonic franchise in favor of other franchises, just like there's no reason for Nintendo to kill off Mario in favor of Chibi Robo. Is it even really a double standard if Sonic is legit their most popular franchise?
  23. And a lot of us still love Sonic, love the good games and are excited for new games. But let's forget those of us who actually like Sonic, Sega should stop making the games entirely because some people don't like them, right? You're misunderstanding. Billy Hatcher was an example of a huge failure for Sega, it barely sold at all. So when someone suggests Sega stop making their flagship franchise that's guaranteed to sell at least decently in favor of a new IP that might sell like shit and cost them a ton of money, I just think they should keep in mind that not all risk equals reward. New IPs are great, but strategic war games and turn based RPGs don't have nearly as much mass appeal as a simple cartoony platformer with one of the most recognizable characters in all of video games.
  24. Except for those games that were recently very creative and received a lot of critical and fan praise. Sonic is their flagship franchise, of course they're going to keep making them. Would you expect Nintendo to stop making Mario games, or Square Enix to stop making Final Fantasy games? And about that new IP that Sega would supposedly benefit more from? Billy Hatcher says hi.
