LIGHTNING RETURNS: FINAL FANTASY XIII is the third and final part of the FINAL FANTASY XIII series and features Lightning as the only playable character, a first in the series. There are couple of times that you will have someone in your party, this includes The Wildlands with a white Chocobo, and Fang in The Dead Dunes. The Doomsday Clock will start off as something to worry you, but it's literally nothing to worry about when you realize this, you just need to complete the five main quests in order to extend the world's time to a full 13 days. I also recommend you do as many side quests as possible in order to unlock some pretty cool stuff at the end of the game. If you do run out of time, or if you can't seem to defeat the final boss you can restart the game from the first day on the Arc via New Game+ which will allow you to change your difficulty setting and keep all your stats, equipment and items. And I strongly recommend playing New Game+ to complete any side quests and trophies you missed the first time or even the end game things I mentioned earlier. Fighting some old friends and enemies as boss battles at the end of main quests was also quite fun. I honestly believe they managed to capture Lightning's perspective perfectly, and having her on her own proved that. And while I would have loved fighting alongside characters such as Sazh again or even fighting alongside Fang more, it just wouldn't have the same emotional effect. Gameplay was fun, but took some getting used too. It definitely suited the game though. The combat system from XIII and XIII-2 wouldn't have suited it. I'll admit when Lightning mentioned visiting Eorzea, I started thinking of playing FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn. Haha. I will admit I missed leveling up, and monsters only served the purpose of quest items. I'm very happy to say all my questions were answered in a good way. In the end closure was brought to every character (except for maybe a white wedding). As per usual, the ending was stunning, I've never seen such a beautiful cutscene. I'll admit I nearly shed a tear when Lightning did. In summary, this was a great game with a ton of replay value via New Game+ and most importantly an amazing ending. 9/10

FINAL FANTASY XIII-2 is the sequel to FINAL FANTASY XIII, however this time you'll be controlling different characters. This time you're controlling Lightning's younger sister, Serah and a boy from the future called Noel who is the last person alive in his time which is about 700 years in the future. Serah's trying to find her sister and Noel's trying to save the future. Pretty simple right? Well that depends on your opinion of time travel. You'll be traveling to different areas in time to solve paradoxes and complete side quests. A lot of the time you'll find yourself going to the same places but in a different time. By doing this you'll obtain fragments which are used for unlocking the game's secret ending which requires every single one of them. No easy feat. Now I mentioned that you control Serah and Noel, but you'll also get a third party member. This third party member is simply a monster you've captured, and you can change the monster as much as you want. Golden Chocobo was my favourite. Through DLC you'll unlock characters from FINAL FANTASY XIII who'll take the monster's position. Gameplay is a lot like XIII's, however with a different party system it is slightly different. Square Enix even threw in paradox endings which occur when you complete something an alternative way. I enjoyed these, however I found the final two quite hard to unlock considering you have to defeat a very powerful boss with one character. Serah's friend, Mog which is a gift from Lightning also proves useful looking for things and being used as a weapon for Serah. Also fighting alongside Snow is also fun. Changing your outfit is an option, but I chose not too. Nomura's design's are too good. And if you're worried about the lack of an Easy Mode like in the English version of XIII, don't. Square Enix have included it in the English version this time. As per usual cutscenes, voice acting and music are great. And the ending is beautiful and sad at the same time. I also strongly recommend purchasing Sazh and Lightning's DLC episodes to expand upon their stories and unlock the ability to use them as the third party member. There's also plenty of DLC boss battles to fight in the coliseum if you want a challenge. There's also a ton of replay value and side quests to do. And if you're one of the people who hated XIII for reasons like it being too linear, Square Enix's 1st Production Department took the feedback and addressed it into this game. You have to purchase DLC to get the full story, but the DLC is very cheap now and the DLC isn't required to enjoy the game. Overall, FINAL FANTASY XIII-2 is another great game and has a great story with great graphics, music and more. However, I wish they made the secret ending worth all that time. 9/10

hi! i wanna get back into the final fantasy series after taking a long break from it. but im having trouble with something. the platforms of the games. normally this wouldent be an issue cuz i could easily look up what system each FF games are made for but then i have to factor in remakes and remasters. then i have to find out which remasters are the most recent and if they are any better than the original. i actually tried looking this stuff up but i cant find any good sources telling me about all the remakes. as we all know, a lot of the people on KH13 are avid final fantasy fans. so i ask them a question. and maybe some might call it a challenge. for all the MAIN SERIES (as in only the ones with numbers attacked to them. not stuff like FF tactics, x, or dissidia final fantasy. but at the same time still including continuations of stories like crisis core. pls list those too) pls list what the most recent release of that specific game in the series is called and what platforms it is on. kinda like how type zero was just rereleased so you would put type zero HD rather than the japan exclusive PSP version. (but thats isnt main series so dont bother listing that) the reason im asking for this is because i want to play all games in the main series (including sequels to a specific game. again, crisis core and the FF13 games) so pls, if you can, list all main series final fantasy games and their most recent remaster or remake. i wanna play the wole FF main series, 1-15, most recent versions of each game. i tried looking this stuff up but im not too good at that and my results were fruitless. this is both a challenge, and a request. thank you for taking the time to read, and if you decide to respond, than thank you even more for giving more of your time to help a random dude on the internet have the best inal fantasy experience .

I started with Type-0 because the demo needed time to download... Type-0 was really fun! It kinda throws you in there without really giving you much warning.... it gives you game-play controls then throws you right into the fight, and it is fun and easy enough to understand, however it did grade me at the end which pissed me off... I never liked being graded in a game... especially for time... like if you don't want me to go around and explore and look for items... don't make so many paths and shiny items.... If I get a D in time it is because I looked at every dead body for a Knowing Tag, so sorry for getting into the lore...(Also this isn't a real complaint, I understand that you are a cadet that should be graded at the end and this was just a preference) . Then you go to the Academy, and I spent about an hour talking to everyone and visiting every room I could before going back out into the missions. The game asked if I wanted extra help

After Crystal Bearers bombed the team was clearly disbanded, but where did the key people go? Toshiyuki Itahana, the director of Crystal Bearers and regular character designer is of course chilling in division 1 working on Mevius after XIII-2 and LR. Akitoshi Kawazu, the producer of the sub-series is of course now in charge of the new SaGa game for Vita. Kenichiro Yuji who served as director on My Life as a King joined the Type-0 team and served as battle director, he's now working on FFXV. Mitsuru Kamiyama, director of both DS games and the first Wii game has vanished similar to Kazuhiko Aoki who directed the GameCube game. Hiroyuki Saegusa, a writer on multiple games went to work on Lord of Arcana. Hiroyuki Kaneko, director of My Life as a Darklord left the company. Yasuhisa Izumisawa, another character designer ended up working on Lightning Returns as well. Kiyoko Maeda, producer of Echoes of Time has also vanished, most likely they left the company as well.

Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, Final Fantasy XV: Episode Duscae, Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster and Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward could just be the beginning of a lot Final Fantasy titles on PS4 in the next couple years. Final Fantasy XV will be *hopefully* FINALLY released on PS4 next year. The PC version of Final Fantasy VIII is likely to follow FFVII to PS4. The iOS/Android/PC versions of Final Fantasy III, IV, V, VI and maybe Final Fantasy IV: The After Years are good chances of being ported to PS4. Final Fantasy XII HD Remaster will hopefully happen. Motomu Toriyama has confirmed to reveal a new title this year, it's unlikely to be Final Fantasy X-3 but even if it's not there's a chance it could still be on PS4 whatever it is. Hajime Tabata has said before another FFXV demo could come out out later this year. Dissidia Final Fantasy and Mevius Final Fantasy will hopefully come to PS4 as well. Final Fantasy XIII Trilogy Hiroyuki Ito and his team could finally release their long in development project.

Square Enix has updated the iOS & Android versions of Final Fantasy. Square Enix only noted "bug fixes" in the update but this is A LOT more than just bug fixes. Final Fantasy is a now a universal app, meaning it's an app designed for both iPhone & iPad. In addition, Square Enix has also added a menu button in the top right hand corner, similar to the other FF mobile titles. They have also re-designed the movement icon, and it doesn't stay on the screen now, also keeping it more consistent with the other titles. Early impressions of mine is that some things are more shaper including the King's Palace however sadly it's still not HD, and the Android version is still missing content.

Matrix Software, the developer behind the 3D remakes of Final Fantasy III, Final Fantasy IV and Final Fantasy IV: The After Years along with its original version and Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light, Final Fantasy Dimensions (and it's remake) and even the HD remasters of Final Fantasy III, Final Fantasy IV, Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy VI has continued its partnership with Takashi Tokita on his latest title. They're of course working on Final Fantasy Legends: Crystal of Space-Time, a free-to-play game for iOS and Android that reached over one million downloads and topped the Apple App Store sales charts in under a week. They're continually adding content to this game. Reviews out of Japan have been quite good so far. Tokita recently asked me to wait a little longer for an English version in case you're wondering.

I would include XV, but it's not even released yet so... yeah.

I asked Takashi Tokita, the head of division 9 if there any plans to update Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy II. Unfortunately, there are not. As a result, Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy II remain two of the only entries in the main series not playable in HD alongside IX, XII, Crisis Core, Dirge of Cerberus and Revenant Wings.

Square Enix has confirmed division 4 is working on the new Dissidia Final Fantasy game for Japanese arcades. Division 4 developed Dissidia 012. The team responsible for Dissidia 012 also worked on the original game, although it begun development under the PS2 era structure and thus was in division 1. Tetsuya Nomura will of course be serving as character designer. Ichiro Hazama is expected to produce while Mitsunori Takahashi is expected to be directing, reprising their respective roles from 012. Since the release of 012, division 4 has released Theatrhythm Final Fantasy and Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call, however both were outsourced to indieszero. This new Dissidia might have been in development since 2012.

Square Enix logic..... Make a new Dissida Final Fantasy game with amazing graphics such as these and...... only put it in arcades.... What a waste.
