STOP!!!!...!!!

Posted

Okay so tomorrow is a half day where we go through four periods of school super quick and then we do this Stop program which I guess is about drug and alchohol use prevention, it annoys my friends who don't do any of that crap and we thought D.A.R.E. was enough, anyways what are you're opinions on drug abuse programs in schools?

In my high school, we don't have drug awareness programs because a majority of the school smokes weed during or after school hours.

But in any case, even if we did, not like it would help those potheads.

IMO, they do nothing but make kids more curious about the drugs.......

Agreed.

A kid in my grade recently got arrested for getting caught with weed and rumor has it, he will be in Juvie for two months. I wish I got a chance to tell him not to drop the soap. I guess he'll have to learn the hard way.

Drug awareness programs are usually stupid. I don't mind sitting through one a year, but when I have to sit through 2 hour life stories I feel like I would actually rather be taking a test. Plus usually instead of telling kids the truth on why they shouldn't do drugs, they make up stuff to make it seem more scary than it is. I'm not saying drugs aren't bad, but overdramatizing things isn't helping. Kids aren't going to listen to real facts if its coming from the same person that told them an overdramatic lie. The idea of drug awareness programs doesn't bother me, but the way they are run does.

I actually think they're nessecary.

Do I think anyone will actually listen to what these people are saying and stop, or at least refuse to even try? No. Still, though, would you rather there be no effort at ALL?

We did DARE in fifth grade.

Now, 3 years later, nearly half of the people in my entire grade are drug users.

What a load of good that did.

no, but, really, like eterna said, it only makes kids more curious. it's like saying "do smoke." everyone does the opposite for some reason.

i'm not addicted to smoking but it definitely helps me relax on those times when i need it.

it kinda reminds me of this one episode of southpark, I'm just tired of the awarness programs, and actually the middleschool did something over drugs, the highschool just watched this lifestory of a kid who was gay, and how his life sucks since the school did nothing to protect him. THEN he sued the school later, and won. Very well made atleast, the ways they bulllied him kept people talking for days.

I am ashamed of you.

Drug programs and all of that crap doesn't work imo. It takes a real-life experience not to know why to do drugs, like if you have a relative that does drugs and stuff. You are able to see what drugs do to them, and you are able to comprehend that drugs are bad.

But yeah, D.A.R.E didn't help anybody at my school in middle school, or anybody that I know period. When I was 12, and I was hanging out with my cousins who were like 15, they were smoking weed. I didn't know anything about weed at 12, since all D.A.R.E talked about was crack and stuff..so I asked them what were they doing. They told me it was good for you, that what they were doing made you feel happy. Now me being 12 and an idiot, I wanted to do what they were doing. So they passed me a zigzag...........and yeah.

Moral of the story. Drug awareness programs suck.

RoxSox; If you are being serious about what you are saying, then that's just harsh

But drug awareness programs are kinda pointless, they don't change anything, and half the people who do drugs have already dropped out school, which is quite a fail, but i've never understood, why take drugs in the first place, it's like smoking, it costs lotsa money and kills your insides, so basically you're paying to potentially kill yourself.......

Her life, her choice :/

Stupid drug awarness programs make kids want to try drugs, to defy the law and such :/

Everyone calm down, Roxsox is never serious.
