For a lot of the more recent JRPG's from Square Enix, they've been slowly putting in less and less cgi cutscenes into their games. It makes me kinda think they might not have a cgi ending for kh3 and that makes me kinda sad. I know it's a small detail, but it really adds charm to it and makes the endings feel special, or that you earned it. Idk. Do you guys think they'll still include one not counting the opening cinematic?

We've progressed to the point where cutscenes and gameplay are one in the same. 0.2 did have an Opening that was much higher quality than the rest of the game still, so maybe. I'd feel more immersed within it all if everything is merged seamlessly into one style though.

Yeah, I can understand that. But it would be really cool to see the technical cgi leap from the ending of 2 in 2005 to 3 in 2018

I'd say that the way the game looks now, is a far enough technical gap. I think the cgi is unnecessary at this point.

I think because of how far technology for gaming has gone and the innovation of the Kingdom Shader and how they have mastered it, there is no need to use CGI anymore. The graphics in general are just about all CGI. It is a fine line between what is animated and what is realistic. Square Enix has found a way to make the graphics seem like it is realistic while also reminding you that it is also animated. That is why CVI use has disappeared a long time ago.

Odds are pretty good that they'll still make a CGI opening and closing for KH3. It's such a staple of the series that only really gets ignored for smaller titles like Chain of Memories, 358/2 Days, and Coded. Every larger installment like KH1 and KH2 still get CGI openings and closings to start and end their stories, and even Birth by Sleep and Dream Drop Distance still get CGI openings at the very least. 0.2 also had a beautifully made CGI opening, and even though the in-game scenes look closer to the CGI quality, there's still a clear difference between the two and the openings and closings all have a much better style and flare. If anything, ignoring outside factors, this pattern in the series tells me that only numbered installments like KH1 and KH2 get "the full treatment" of a CGI opening AND a CGI closing, so it's very likely that KH3 will get the same treatment. After all, it seems like they're sparing no expense with this title to give it the flare it needs, I really doubt they're just going to ignore capping it off with CGI openings and closings.

Well, considering how far graphical power has come, CGI scenes are starting to become obsolete, ya know? I, for one, wouldn't mind if there didn't end up being any CGI cutscenes, ya know? The graphics are amazing enough that I'm content to watch everything flow with one specific graphical style, ya know? But seeing how 0.2 got a CGI intro, I'm sure KHIII will probably have one, as well as a CGI ending. We'll just have to wait and see! :)

you have a Point but a CGI endcutscene would be nice just for the sake of "oh look its extra pretty"
