Why Do So Many PlayStation Users Have A Problem With The Series Being on Xbox?

Featured Replies

I'm not into the war so I don't really know.

I just came here to say that I'd love if the whole series came out for Xbox so that more players know about the game and get the chance to play it.

And I don't own one anyways. I'm just here to know the other members' opinions xD

I'm not against the idea of KH being on the xbox. I've just grown up with the series on playstation. Which is what i'm gonna be playing 3 on.

I mean, that's why I ask.

And that's fine, I totally respect that. However, there are a good amount of people who viscerally HATE that it's happening. It doesn't make a lot of sense to me outside of console preferences.

I don't understand the hate either. My only concern is that Xbox players won't get the full story because Square won't make an Xbox version of 1.5 + 2.5, until reviewing how III does on xbox, and even then they might not get it. I'm glad that there's those recap videos, but I feel like Xbox players will be missing out. Hopefully a lot of them will look up playthroughs on YouTube or something.

There's no reason why people should have a problem with KHIII being on Xbox.

While KH does not belong to Sony in any way, it doesn't mean there couldn't be contracts involved which would prohibit a release on specific platforms or any other at all. Now, we don't know if there ever was anything remotely similar going on or if it ever went in that direction, but I highly doubt it. It's still a general possibility since companies make exclusive contracts with other companies without any of them being the owner of the other party. I guess it so etimes just makes sense from a marketing standpoint.

However, there's no real explanation or good argument as to why it shouldn't be on Xbox. This topic has been around time and time again and whenever you ask someone who's adamant about refusing its release on that console in particular, you never really get a good answer. In the end it is probably just a petty rivalry, what is usually labeled as console wars as you already mentioned, and not anything concrete.

It would be a different matter if the Xbox One couldn't handle the game, the controls wouldn't work on the native controller due to a very different layout or if other issues, such as an extremely prolonged development, would prevent a release but this isn't the case.

The simple answer is most likely that some people are very invested in something that makes no difference whatsoever to the game. There are many things I don't get but this is among the issues that aren't worth getting upset about.

Personally, I don't mind that it comes to Xbox. As long as there's no risk of SE going bankrupt for porting it (which it won't), shouldn't it be regarded as a good thing that more people will get to play it? I hope that the rest also gets released at some point because I'm more worried about the game not selling well because others may be reluctant to pick up a game that's the last installment of the saga and want to experience for themselves without having to buy abother console or watch videos.

But apart from that, what should it matter to me as long as every console owner is treated the same? The game wasn't delayed, there's no relevant exclusive content announced which would require me to buy two versions and it won't deminish my experience at all.

No one cares if other games come out on different consoles but suddenly some PS4 owners want to feel special they have a title no one else has? That somehow misses the point of gaming in my opinion. And that's to enjoy the game and not claim others aren't allowed to do the same because of a different system...

It makes zero sense, really. The only ones it matters to would be Disney/SE and Sony since it might affect sales here and there, but it doesn't really affect the player. Except for that one Keyblade pre-order bonus where you get an Xbox themed one but that's no reason to get angry.

As I said before, it would be a whole different matter if it would affect anyone negatively, like Xbox owners getting content PS4 owners won't get, but there's no notion of anything in that regard happening.

Then again, a lot of people lose their head over every tiny little thing nowadays anyway, despite not having a negative impact on them or a majority of other people.

Yes. I believe that Xbox players will get the collections, but after 3 comes out next year. Square still needs to talk to Microsoft apparently, as Nomura has said, & I'm doubting Microsoft isn't gonna say no.

I mean, it's more likely that Square didn't port the first 2 numbered KH games to any other console because they didn't want to, or didn't see the point, since the PS2 was the more popular console of the 6th gen. I doubt it was any kind of exclusivity deal, since they also didn't make any games for the GameCube as far as I know.

Yes, definitely. It boils down to people's opinions. I mean, you don't hear about people complaining that games in general are published to both major consoles at the same time, so what makes KH so special as to receive that distinction? I think it mostly has to do with Square releasing the next main entry on 2 consoles at once, which is a first for any game in this series. I think it's more people's reaction to change than anything, though it's still stupid because this is more of an addition & one that more so benefits the series & Square more than hindering it.

You beat me to it. Yeah, the added budget, which can't be too much if all they're doing is just converting the PS4 build of the game to work on Xbox One as well as they go, isn't going to be enough to bankrupt Square. I would've thought that the releases of the collections on PS4 al one would pay off their investment for upgrading & porting those games, then paying for the next installment some. I mean, 24-25 million copies of both PS4 collections combined would pay for something. In any case, yeah, I believe that Square is going to port the collections a bit after 3 comes out. There have always been talks of doing it & I believe it's only a matter of time. What I think is going to happen is after 3 comes out, Nomura's gonna put more of his focus into the FFVII Remake & leave Tai Yasue with a small dev team to port them to the console. They just need to talk to Microsoft who, as I said to the person before you, I don't believe are gonna say no.

Yeah, PS4 users of this caliber have overly inflated egos when it comes tot heir console. They're a special kind of snowflake when it comes to gaming (Quick update, I tried to find the video to show exactly what the guy said & how he said it. I had replied to it a few days ago, so it was fresh in my mind. Turns out the guy deleted it after, I assume, realizing that his comment made no sense, like I pointed out). Apparently, every PS4 fanboy assumes that they're the only ones that matter & they feel the need to assert that feeling at every opportunity. I guess getting good exclusives a majority of the time & starting off the current generation well will do that, but Xbox is currently in a position where it's equal, if not better, than PS4 right now. I mean, look at some of the marketing decisions Sony is making right now. They're setting themselves up to be no better than Microsoft was in 2013 when they announced the Xbox One. These people need a reality check, in my opinion.

Oh yeah, you reminded me. Remember the guy I mentioned with those bad animations of Xbox users getting maimed? He also tried to convince me that the earlier games were exclusive to PlayStation because of the "Only on" text on them. One problem, though, he referenced the European box arts rather than North America's. America only had 2 of the collections have that label...& those ere the PS3 releases of 1.5 & 2.5, which came out at the end & after the PS3's lifespan as a console when the PS4 was coming out, when Sony of America could be entirely sure they wouldn't be stupid for doing that. How dumb can you be?

Also, yeah, there'll be a PS4-themed Keyblade as well, so Square are at least being equal in their development of both ports of the game.

Yeah, these people think that something's wrong, when there isn't. It makes no sense, but that's stupid for you. Never underestimate stupid, as Phillip DeFranco said.

The whole console war is just the result of good marketing to let people fight the war for the companys

Kind of, yeah. I mean, the only reason for Sony Europe to have the "Only on PS4" text on the collections is marketing, since Sony America & Japan can't confirm the exclusivity being there forever, so they didn't even try to claim it, which is why it was stupid of that guy I mentioned to claim it, obviously.
