The advertising wasn't that false either when you kinda consider it closes the chapter on Xehanort,so it's a finale to that part

I mean again, KH has always been ambitious as firetruck
even KH2, where in the series do you see an actual closed book ending

I dont see the letter as being a HUGE plot hook

It's perfectly acceptable to see it as an "and the adventure goes on" ending
