A lot of the elements to those stories was simple and coherent which is why they work

I'm still in 2 minds about this

Sure there's a lot of details to look at outside of the main story but there is a basic story structure it adheres to.

Like you have wacky nomura but its kept structured and organised. 3 isnt for me. A reason I also blame is 3's attempt at being a game for eveyrone

when its clearly not

from a narrative perspective anyways, but being a jrpg thats very hard to ignore.

imagine a newcomer reacting to that scene with riku and mickey explaining xehanort's time travel

I actually thought that was a good one

Imagine a newcomer looking at every scene where they mention someone from the past

it's not a bad scene yeah but

Explained who the main foes are in previous games and the situation now

With a dope made scene too

It's a kinda pointless scene though

a newcomer would be firetrucking flabbergasted

When, a newcomer should be watching the movie things

eh, kinda? I mean, that's the scene where they learn that Terra got possessed I think

so it's something

Sure there's that

But its also bad imo because its shoved in between a load of other scenes also explaining enemies and events fromt he past

my gf played kh3 without any knowledge and understood everything except the union x stuff just by watching the cutscenes and reading the journal

But there's a fair bit of exposition in this game and not actually a lot of development

there are so many cutscenes at the beginning of 3 dedicated to exposition about prior events

I cant be arsed to rewatch half of them

because they offer nothing else.

I've seen most of them just once

imo the scenes were unnecessary when the journal exists

well, they kinda are if people are gonna skip out on the journal

kinda wish KH3 did what DDD did with memories

ask if you wanna check them out otherwise skip them

Then we don't need these exposition scenes tbh

Some of them make sense

theres a lot of tools to help newcomers in 3 that having cutscenes that are made just to explain it all again is unneeded
