How many people think this is worst the fandoms ever been?

No idea, I haven't been around for long enough

But since I have effectively cut most contact with the rest of the fandom, I think it's safe to assume it's in a bad state right now.

Like, the only contact I have with the "fandom" is this server,

Yeah I wasn't really in touch with the fandom until KH3 hype cycle and even then not properly until I joined kh13 last year. But it very well could be at its worst tbh

I've been thinking on this, and I don't think that it is the worst time. I think it's just recency bias and twitter that makes people feel that way, because all of a sudden we have groups that wouldn't normally interact with one another interacting

I think KH3 really did a number on the fanbase

Because I can remember what the Days hate was like, and the hate KH3 receives is nothing in comparison really

The fanbase in general just can't handle it well

Now everyone is fighting over the direction the series should go in, and the fact that it's a different direction than we assumed based on KH1 and KH2, many people are just upset over it.

And Twitter sucks by default so I don't think it's a good metric for anything

Actually yeah, you're completely right on that. I think it's fair to assume that in general the people who are disappointed by it wanted a game that was closer to the main games but instead what we got was pretty side gamey.


That is certainly not what many people wanted and now that it's such a success I think many fans are scared of this will be the formula for years to come. It's one thing for KH3 to be upsetting, but if the rest of the franchise takes this turn I think a lot of love will be lost permanently. How many times do we see "waiting on remind/KH4 to improve on such and such and such"

I don't think this will translate into loss of sales though, as the Disney pull is still strong enough imo for even people like me to just switch my brain off and enjoy it. However it will always be upsetting to see how far it fell and I think that can't be overlooked.

I think there are two routes we can take from now:

The current pathway that uses KH3 as a base

Or a back to basics approach

All the previous bs like Re:Coded and DDD had the benefit of being set up to the future, and Kh3 was supposed to make those games worthwhile.

But now that KH3 took the plot threads and resolved them rushedly an sloppily, many people are starting to see them as responsible for KH3's downfall instead of "the great KH3 Electric Boogaloo Endgame set up"

I guess my experience with the fanbase is from the subreddit like....3 or 4 years ago?

The subreddit is 1% interesting content, 99% low effort useless garbage
