Ehhh

Definitely not always

At all

You get the same "DONALD DOESN'T HEAL ME" joke constantly

Seriously, you can't go a day without someone telling that joke

It's dead

Bury it

"KH3 was supposed to make those games worthwhile"

I can see this especially for people that didn't enjoy the handhelds or DDD specifically

Who's xion, mansex and Donald jokes are the identity of this fanbase

darkness

lol

"Hey, don't worry if this plot point, this place or this character haven't shown up in this side game, they will definitely show up in the big KH3, since that game will conclude everything"

Take that but apply it to literally everything, and you have the number 1 way the fanbase excuse all that happened in the handhelds

Now that you've said that, I suddenly had a huge rush of actual instances where that logic was used.

Towards the end of waiting for KH3 a lot of the faults from Days to DDD was excused because we all genuinely believed everything would be tied up but that just didn't happen. So now what do we do? It's weird.

It's weird that KH3 is a polished modern game with excellent graphics, good gameplay, and simple plot and made the general public respect the franchise, while it made half the fanbase so utterly upset.

Yeah

But that's what happens when you ignore so much of what made many people fall in love with the series in the first place

This is the really ugly side of me speaking but it almost feels like a slap in the face that KH3 is a good generic game because it just makes me feel like everything I loved about this series isn't valid.

This is very sad boi hours, who started this conversation?

Yeah, it really is upsetting

I wish I had something to add lmao but I don't

The fact that many of us stood by this series after questionable low budget handheld games with questionable plots and gameplay choices, and the game that has* a decent plot, that *has* good gameplay and that *has* a high budget, *that's the one that broke the camel's back.

That's definitely something to just... think over.

Loyal to a damn fault lmao. It is any wonder the backlash is so visceral.

You can talk about Ansem Nova

But I think that's the sad truth of the matter

KH3 being just good was never going to be enough

And turns out it wasn't

I suppose there is something to be said about expectations. But I really don't think many people had stupidly high expectations, we just wanted something in the vein of 1&2

I can talk about Ansem but his time is over now essence

Kinda makes me sad in a sense, that KH3 has so much effort and passion put behind it but people will forever dunk on it because of it not being good enough

Inb4 he comes back

I think it is definitely sad, because we all know what happened behind the scenes and how that definitely contributed to what we see currently. But I guess after waiting so long and putting up with so much it was to be expected

"Hey, we put 1000hours of worktime getting Rapunzel's hair just right, hope you enjoy it!"
"Ok but where's muh Final Fantasy?! This game succ"

The passion of the dev team certainly shows in plenty of places

I guess it was inevitable with Disney wanting a hand in everything
