Yeah, it's just a surface level example

But I also agree with you Slash, it's also very annoying when you attempt to make a fair comparison between two games in order to prove a point and the first response is "you just wanted the latter game to be just like the first"

I mean honestly if I loved something that came before, like why wouldn’t I want the same feelings to be able to be recaptured you know?

I think that’s what people don’t get

And just because something is the way it is now as a final product, doesn’t mean it had to be that way after all

I think that's fair as a sentiment, but there's more to it than just that

For one, you can't expect everyone to agree with those feelings. People may feel differently and want the opposite of what you want. For instance, I often say that I wish KH3 had taken world design clues from KH1 since I appreciate the level design in that game, but Otti doesn't appreciate it, so he wouldn't want the game to take those clues.

So while it's fair to want similar things, I think it's important to take a bit of a collectivist view on the matter and think about people who don't share the same view and want different things.

But it’s like okay let’s say for the sake of an example, the laser dome thing with Xemnas, while that was so damn cool especially for being something that they pulled off at the time, and being able to be a point of comparison to not having anything quite like it for a spectacle that is controlled when doing the final Xehanort fight, I never wanted the same thing again, I wanted something to make me feel similar if not to have a better experience than before

Hmm, I'd say that is pretty fair

But there could also be people who didn't like that sequence in KH2 and see it as nothing more than a glorified QTE, and the more straight forward nature of Goatnort might have been more to their tastes.

The 13 chairs segment was good and last ray or whatever its called

But that is still a very strong point

A little bit more of that

A more cinematic flair

You know it's kind of weird
As much as I and many others said that they didn't want to mash triangle as much in kh3 as they did in kh2, I found myself missing it a lot in kh3 lol

The thing with the chairs in comparison to the dome for me, is that Xemnas obviously put his all into one final attack trying to finish you off, meanwhile with that whole segment from rage form onwards to me it’s just like the x-blade is enabling all this stuff to happen because it’s the x-blade, not to mention after you stick through all of that part the fight still isn’t over and you’re gonna just have to do another little chunk of damage and hit triangle mid fight, it’s so odd to me

Well, the X-Blade gives the fight bonus points for the coolness factor of trying to stop the bad guy from acquiring a very powerful weapon, failing to stop him obtaining it, but still being badass enough to stop him after that. sorasunglasses

The triangle deffibrilator segment was also pretty memorable to me.

But I agree with you on your sentment, not necessarily due to the fight itself but more because I thought it lacked build up.

Oh yeah and I meant to say between the two, Xemnas’s thing was consistently lasers of all sorts so it just feels right for something like that to me his ultimate attack, where as Xehanort is just dishing out whatever the hell they felt like he should be able to do at will

i think final xemnas is still my favorite story fight in the series, probably

It's the culmination of many fantastic design choices

i do think the prior fights aren't all that great, but the final one makes up for it

whereas 3's never felt amazing to me but was consistently decent

Great build up, awesome design patterns, very good use of Reaction Commands, brief segment where you can play as Riku which is thematically relevant, and a bitching new composition for a final boss theme.

The music far makes up for what the prior Xemnas fights lack sorasunglasses

Yeah, great themes all around

interestingly we fight Xehanort twice

so do we consider the ReMind nort fight as a final fight as well?

cause that fight also has new tricks up Xehanort's sleeve for Kairi

I don't

It's a dlc

It's separate

Honestly now that you mention it I enjoy that one as more of a final send off battle for Xehanort than the base game

And technically, Yozora would be the final boss fight in the DLC than Armored Xehanort

Maybe not in every aspect no, but certainly for having a bit more spectacle imo and a bit of added difficulty to it

I personally just consider remind as the whole actual conclusive end of kh3 while the rest actually feels like dlc that shouldn’t have been there on the game
