you know I'm not actually angry right

I'm also being stupid on purpose

seasalty

Quidelicious take incoming

I mean, I can be stupid without making any effort, as that's my default stance

But I know what's so great about forums

Instead of chatrooms that limit themselves to short messages and scorn any walls of text, forums encourage the writing of long, well written and structured posts.

It's basically a battle of the smartest, and not a battle of who types the fastest

I understand, but you haveto wonder whats the point with writing an entire novel for a question thst can be simplified to a yes or no

It depends

Sometimes answers that go beyond yes and no are preferable

A lot of times, even

But sometimes people didnt use the proper formatting and you ended up with the great word wall of china

Yeah, but that's on them for not using good formatting, not for writing a lot.

"heres what i have to say on this topic*

ONE WALL OF TEXT LATER

...ok?

Thanks for describing what forums are about in the most watered down manner

I'm just waiting for Quid to land the main blow now

It's gonna be one for the ages

Forums arent bad

But sometimes you just got the ocassional "im gonna be a pain in your neck and you're gonna have to deal with it" member.

There's nothing wrong at all with discord, lemme just make that clear. Even on the forums I loved using the chatroom purely because of that real time interaction, like you said.

However in terms of establishing and maintaining a community I think forums make these things much easier because of how less cluttered it feels.

It's I think much easier to introduce oneself onto a forum than crash land into the middle of a busy chat. Not only does it foster more well written posts, but majority of the time theories, articles, speculation etc are archived well, and over time a community can form not just because of what the forum wws but because of the eventual friendships and such that form there.

It's also much more conducive to go in depth and argue in a more structured manner than constantly firing messages left right and centre as so much arguing on discord devolves into who can type the most soundbitey thing the fastest.

And I've seen from experience that being angry is not at all easy to deal with in this place whereas it's much easier to be cool when you're more detached. Here, everything is happening so fast and packed with emotions that eventually it can lead to terrible things, such as people leaving.

I'm not saying these things don't happen vice versa, just which one is more inclined for something

Just like on Discord

This wasn't really all that good of a defence

That was very cool, Quid
