He changed the GCSE curriculum to cut american authors which is really stupid imo because John Steinbeck should be mandatory reading

he introduced that every subject should include "british values"

thankfully I was in my last year of school so I didn't have to witness that trainwreck

You could still read Lord of The Flies tho

Of Mice and Men is a much nicer book to study imo

I'm not saying there aren't quality British authors, but we shouldn't be discriminating literature like this

I liked Lord of The Flies better

It was more interesting

Although English teachers were so pissed off that they taught mice and men anyway

It is more interestng, but I think as an introduction to analysing literature you can't go wrong with mice and men. It's simple but layered I guess if that makes sense
