sophie was meant to be a twist but you could see it coming due to the beginning

It's definitely an elseworld take

Which I like

Gives it a bit more freedom than generally

basically like gotham this whole thing is implying the joker is an idea an concept and inspire the real one

going by what todd said in an interview yesterday

The whole Wayne family connection to me and how Bruce's parents deaths. It's like the movie takes these specific characters because it has to be shown that this is Joker and not just a random character. Like the whole events with Wayne going for mayor and the state of Gotham's elite felt very much pushed aside unless the Wayne's were involved

sure ok the mother could have been a wayne employee but the three random people he killed being linked to Wayne as employees was a bit much

and the way it connected the murder to Joker

I guess the point was that

Arthur Fleck didn't cause the clowns to rise, but Thomas Wayne on the comment he made after his 3 coworkers died

Which I am fine with, anyone could have been in Arthur's position but he made the first move

And down the rabbit hole he went

like not the intent involved with killing Wayne's parents but the whole final scene where it flicks to Bruce in the alley

Aaaaah that

because hes a unreliable narrator through out the film and the final few mins before the end show that he

imagine the whole car being plowed and him being praised by rioters is in his head

Ohhhh that's a good point but I feel it wasnt

Simply because of what they want to do with the movie in terms of

potential sequels

In my head it went something like this

he said that the lady wouldn't understand the joke. I just took it as him imagining it all because he is already Joker in the present with Batman there. He just found out about the Wayne family and made up a whole story based on that even if it doesn't make sense. Which is why he says to the lady she wouldn't get the joke

Then again

the way hes in the hospital at the end could mean he was taken straight to there from the car

Joaquin doesn't do franchises, so I doubt a sequel is happening

But they really wanted there to be

plus in the interview with todd he said

you wouldnt get it scene is a giveaway that theres a actual joker out there inspired by fleck

todd and phoniex has said theyd only do another one if the script is good

Oh that would let them continue with the character but not Joaquin

I guess? I mean, it's vague so anyone's guess on this is as valid as the next one
