> every single pokemon trailer so far convinced me to not buy the game

It's funny, I'm the opposite

And I really don't want to spend £300

pain

ok i try to not be toxic but the gameplay looks like

garbage

for a turn based rpg

it's just flashy without substance

like BBS

seasalt_shinji

Correct me if I'm wrong, but has pokemon ever had substance to the gameplay?

The basics have never really changed

it never had substance in any possible way seasalt_shinji

the thing is... is GF really serious about this?

do they really think they can compete with DQ11 or P5?

no they don't

bc they know ppl will buy pokemon regardless of how bad it is

bc of the name

and I think that's so sad

That's something I completely agree with

There is never any incentive for pokemon to be better than what it is because it will always make bank

I am sure I will still enjoy Swsh, but is it something I can justify spending 60 on let alone 300? I don't think so

My main interest is that the pokemon worlds championship is happening in London next year, and that everything I've seen makes Swsh look like a good game competitively

just look at games like Fire Emblem or Zelda. They made radical changes to their games and improved them a lot. And both games got very well received. the fact that pokemon is the only brand of Nintendo that isn't willing to improve is so sad

The limited-time events give players more incentive to buy the games early.

Yeah, especially when you look at everything gen 5 had, and then fast forward to gen 7

Almost nothing stayed

Gen 5 to me felt like an improvement

In terms of WiFi battling and post game content

I wonder if they are holding off on more info to encourage players to get the games in order to find out the other info.

Yes, it's the sad truth

Out of interest why do any of us buy pokemon games?

Of course, because 1) Pokemon will seek regardless and 2) most of the profits come from merchandise anyway

I don't buy Pokemon games

I would if I had the consoles and handhelds, I suppose.

I already stopped buying pokemon with gen 5. the only reason why I played Sun&Moon was bc someone gifted it to me. And i turned off my DS after 1-3 hours bc the story pacing is horrible and the gameplay completely braindead

But no game to me is worth buying a console just for it

and the gameplay is just unfair

bc your enemy doesn't have a chance bc everything is 1 shot

I will be honest, I have only ever bought pokemon games just so I can play competitively

To me, pokemon has always been a tool for something that I can really enjoy: irl battling
