But yeah, so way back when horses were the fastest mode of transport, the grooms family would rock up to the brides house (on a white majestic horse Ofc) and that's when the doorway would be blocked. And then he'd come in eventually and drink the milk (because you assume it's been a pretty long journey) and then steal his shoes. They're both asked if they accept the marriage three times, and then the dinner happens. There's never really much dancing during the wedding because it's supposed to be more solemn.

And then the rukhsati (where the bride leaves her house, generally for the first ever time) happens and the bride and everyone cries because she's being taken away and shit

And then the next day we have the walima so it ends on a happy note
