It's not like they can't patch them in post-release, but they downright stated that they won't be allowed to work on it. Then, Little Town Hero by Gamefreak was announced.

Which is most likely why sword and shield isnt looking so good

This is a big step up in hardware for pokemon, it's sad to see it miss the mark

I think its kinda funny that they had a trailer for sword and shield that I am pretty sure showed off pokemon that wont be in the game

like a retail trailer

not a gameplay one

I kind of think s change of art style here and there would be needed. I'm not a fan of how humans look in Pokemon

It would've been better if they stated outright before revealing more info that the upcoming Pokémon games wouldn't feature a complete dex rather than wait for E3 where we had playable demos that they ran into issues getting the national dex in when in reality, it was a time constraint and approval issue from the higher ups.

It worked for the 2D games and X/Y but it's just not a good look anymore especially on switch

well this is why pokemon was always a handheld series

Yeah but they probably felt they needed to keep ppl hyped

For textures, I've seen complaints about rocks and trees in the being compared to a N64 game. The towns themselves are well-fleshed out and expansive, though.

Because it is the newest mainline pokemon for the next generation

So do you think handhelds will ever make a comeback?

Switch is pretty much a handheld

Its main draw is the handheld aspect

3ds is still going strong in Japan

And Japan loves portability

The NS plays like a handheld and mobile games are quite popular.

So handhelds dont have comeback they are still going strong

Currently, Nintendo 3DS still has support and payment options online.

Mobile isnt exactly what I'd call a handheld platform but its essentially the same kind of idea

It's a whole nother platform.

The point is that it's separate from PC and home console akin to handhelds.

mobile is far more restricted when it comes to gaming than any other platform honestly

And requires constant online connection for accessing any part of the games.

Handhelds defo aren't going anyway

Though I guess you do have those occasional game packs that have games which dont require mcirotransactions

Also Japan loves the 3ds

Which is what I meant when I said portability

And PnP, so no WPA2 security, only WEP or open.
