The levels are super fun, and Shadow is so awesome. It's one of my favorite Sonic games too

Look, it's fine and cool to clown on sonic games as much as you'd like, but thinking on it as a wholistic product, the games that have a (pretty strongly) connected story, like SA1 right through to 06, get you way more involved into the game then something like generation that you can just fly through without a care.

I'm not saying that they're "good" stories, but they get characterisation right and feel "epic" enough and take themselves seriously which gives it weight
