SJWs often worry more about external characteristics than the person in and off themselves. Deafness is not something that alters appearance so they let it pass because appearance is what they actually care about.

I'm asian and a gurl, but I really dislike when a character is changed to a different race or gender for no reason. I think it's much better to just create new characters for a modern age. Peter Parker was pretty modern for the 60s, just move on with the times
