just the basic thing to keep in mind is that the positioning of the quartz matter

so for instance in estelle's slots, she has three brown slots. Which means it's the most beneficial if three earth quartz go in there, etc

the game does a very poor job of explaining that to you

so a little different from cold steel

but basically, if you put the same elements together like that in the same colored slots

you'll get higher tier spells

and it changes depending on the type of quartz specifically used, so there's a lot of customization

ye xylek, cold steel simplified it a lot

as much as I hate crossbell, the last crossbell game had the best quartz system of the series. It combined the system from sky as well as elements that would be in cold steel

like master quartz, etc

kinda reminds me of materia

getting better arts from usiing the right slots sounds awesome

rather than being forced to use a type

yeah, it's a far better system, but the games do a terrible job of explaining it to you

but at the same time i kinda like it also

like i played through all of sky 1 without ever learning about it lol

i prefer playing the cold steel games overall though
