sonic is a hedgehog yes

the thing is, sonic is alot like disney movies

where hes traded hands in terms of people who are making him

and that lead to a number of experimentation in this series

And that's fine, spin offs are fine

But we had a formula for sonic that was tested, proven, tried and worked

SA1, SA2, Heores to a lesser extent

Even shadow the hedgehogs level design philosophy was similar, guns withstanding

thing is 06 theoretically followed the same adventure style formula, just screwed it up royally

and from that sega abandoned the formula because they were scared of it

The real issue is, 06 used the same philosophy. And 06 is poison. That's why we had so much subpar crap since then, because even though the foundations of 06 were strong if a sonic game EVER resembled 06 in any way it would get torn apart

the levels and flow do follow what SA started

Not for a second really, I mean you look at p-06 and tell me it doesn't look amazing. 06 was just unfinished

I truly believe sonic 06 would have been fine if it had been given an extra year

It was NEXT GEN SONIC, people don't complain when pokemon uses the same philosophy on end
