I'm pretty scared about the future of the internet with things like Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa

As someone who loves tech and who loves to tinker with things, I'd probably want some automated stuff in my home

But I most probably will built it myself instead of relying on other outside services

i mean ultimately what you would be doing is just remaking a Arduino/Raspberry Pi board

and then configuring it to what you want

that's all that's in these devices for the most part haha, proprietary embedded systems

throw in a WiFi chip and BTH chip and bam you can control it via the network

in which case you get to the fun time of securing your app

i might end up living in a condo/apt for a long while cause im not too interested in owning a home so home automation will be interesting

Mine would probably work locally only, I wouldn't risk opening it to the web

plus I see no reason to control my house when I'm not in my house laughsinnomura

Unless you program them to randomly revolt at a time for some unknown reasons, they won't Joshua laughsinnomura

i did once make a small program on my research robot to "hit" me if it sees me at 6pm in the evening

not at all haha
i even set the motor speed to be max

but it was about as light of a tap as you could imagine

Now we need to find one that makes it hurt

I wish I had friends like you irl to talk about this kind of stuff

My IRL ones are non existent seasalt_shinji

There is a guy still talk to from middle school but we only meet up like once a year
