An issue with a lot of JRPGs though is how normal battles always feel trivial which isn't a bad thing. But it can become quite boring as well

I think it's forced because Game Freak doesn't want people to 1 shot all enemies like they did in the past

because sword and shield was heavily criticized for bad level pacing and bad combat

i totally understand why people want challenge

they are basically listening to the playerbase

which is good

but making it a choice is better

for next game atleast

or maybe pokemon gets level pacing because the dlc has barely any content and they want to stretch the amount of game time ?

I'm also definitely not the person to listen to for the future of Pokemon I want to play these games to collect cute monsters and battle them I really don't care about quality of story or competitive or whatever personally I really like the sword and shield because they gave me exactly what I look for in the series
