the theme is just forced on to you and tells you to just accept it

 

but ngl except for the story and the themes, the game so far is excellent

in terms of gameplay, visuals and presentation

 

the first mistake was making this game focused on juno rather than joel

 

i mean yea the gameplay comes first cause it is a game after all

it seems fine

but too similar

 

Except they focus on both Ellie and Abby, not just Abby

 

I am 1 hour in, so don't spoil too much

first game already had Joel for like 95% of the story.

 

there was still so much to tell

even moreso after the end of 1

 

like dont get me wrong i expect joel to die but not just like "ay you gonna die cause you know what you did" while joel legit says in a way idk who you are lol

 

What more is there to tell other than

Joel going mad for rescuing Ellie

I would have liked if the game gives more time where Abby and Joel are together and Abby figuring out who he actually is before it happens. It would have had so much more impact because the game would give Abby time to reflect on what happened

did something similar in terms of Maruki, where before the final heist Maruki and Joker meet irl and talk about their views. It was so well written and well done. I wish they would have done sth similar in this case with Abby and Joel

the thing with me though is like
||all this reflection. There's too much reflection
there's too much drama, even moreso now.
literally joel became a villain. He went mad and had a story to back that up. He was amazing. Juno was just a wisecracking girl who was just sort of there. She didn't need a story. She had a backstory to some degree, that's all she needed. If she was to get a game, it should've been in the third installment. But the deterioration of Joel's mind, building the world up around them more as more and more people came after them.
Joel should have died in the true TLOU2. But he should have died in the end, exploring his faults throughout the game as the villain who kept Juno alive. The only reflection that should've happened was at the end of his life, where he'd call Juno by his real daughter's name or some crap like that. Like he's dying and delirious, like Juno didn't really know what was going on the entire time, but she keeps getting glimpses throughout 2 and realizing what Joel did and why. It should have been a dual game between Joel and Juno, where you care so much for their father-daughter relationship but realize just how unhealthy and dangerous joel is, before culminating in his death.
But this is just highschool drama now. Joel's just a boomer. Ellie's woke and zombies suck lul. The one thing that TLOU had going for it I thought was Joel, and the fact that he's not a focus in this game is wildly disheartening||
