it's ok just a personal project

What are you using it for, if I might ask?

school lockers management

Oh, interesting, wasn't expecting that.

to replace a paper file

That's pretty smart now that I'm thinking about it

i need an online database so everyone on the team can access it not just one person

cause the problem with the paper file is exactly that only one person can access it at a time

But mysql can be weird sometimes with JDBC so I'd just verify you got the right URLs and dependencies installed

Unfortunately I can't help much more than that because it's been years since I used Java and a database in one project lol

thanks, i'm just not sure how to check the url, will look into it later

Usually if you have to make a request to it, most api's or dbs will have something that returns a status code which can tell you what might be going wrong

Tho this is a database that you're gonna host as a personal project right? Probably best to just look over the docs ¯_(ツ)_/¯

i've never worked with anything connected so i'm learning as i go

maybe i should look for a database that is not in mysql

Java works best with Oracle but you don't wanna pay for that lol

Mysql or SQLite are good options for what you're going for

It is pretty tricky to set up I agree
Which is why most just go for a cloud approach and Rest APIs

i wanted to avoid php cause i don't understand it well but yeah maybe

watched a tutorial but was too complicated so decided to keep looking into my problem first

only language i know is C# so java is easy, the rest gets a bit overwhelming

you know when you change nothing at all and it works all of a sudden for no reason, just happened

Yeah that happens

i'm relieved but now i really wonder what was wrong before

All that matters is that it works now
