I had a customer bring back curtains two months after she bought them. Forgot all the packaging and cardboard. Dragged me away from the queue of ten customers to spend 5 minutes telling me her sob story about the curtains. To which I had to tell her 'unfortunately I am not authorised to do exchanges/refunds' . Turns out I was the third member of staff she had this conversation with. The manager came down to her again for the second time, essentially told her there was nothing that could be down because its well past the 30 day company return policy and she has no packaging with her. So I went from that lady into a guy and a woman who were already growing impatient, trying to return a fking Pillow they bought earlier because it was the wrong one. I had to get into an argument with them about how we cant take back pillows and that I apparently didnt tell them that. Which even fi I didn't there is a massive sign at the till and its written on your receipt. Guy kept pointing his goddam finger in my face the entire time I was trying to explain that we dont take them back.(Also I cant even bloody do returns/exchanges, I just told someone this). Customer queue ends and the woman from earlier tries to get me to fold her curtains into her bag for her...I asked her if she had her packaging because it was the best way to tell her NO.

Oof Marly.......

People are

firetrucking stupid

1000000000000%

Honestly, even when I didn't work in retail I knew how the other customers acted

Or, have no idea how to talk to other people

I don't mean from like being shy or whatever

cnbhjdvhgfbvf

im in tears

im about to post a video in memes

But treating people with respect because they are a firetrucking human

Oh that goes out the window when you're a sales assistant

Well when it comes to talking to certain ppl

This is why stores need a new role, I came up with

The respect enforcer

laughsinnomura

See the issue nova
Is that we need their money no matter what

You can stab me all the word and hate you want but I'm still gonna get $11.95 from you

Thankfully, most people are patient and even comment on how I'm always smiling and laughing with customers xD but, the two or three customers I have dealt with were so firetrucking annoying

if i worked in retail

i would just provoke them

I don't like the rule we have where you have to make a comment on a customers purchase everytime they bring something to the till. Like...there are times where I have had to say white pillowcases are a great colour.

Yes my sister when working at boots had to deal with a frequent customer who would throw her card at her. Literally throw it. And she would shout, every time "DONT PUT IT ON MY POINTS" then there's another woman who would come in right before store close, and run over workers feet with the wheelchair she had. ah and then many others.
