There's a difference between saying "it's silly to use objectivity to put down other people's opinions" and saying "discussing objectivity in and of itself is silly"

And I understand what you mean, I also often argue on the down low lmao

So don't worry, I'm not upset or anything. If anything, I'm having a whole lot of fun

Lol.. but right.. both can be silly in some varying degrees though. Yes, there are standards, and yes, they can be upheld, of course.. Stories need solid pacing, stories need a clear beginning to end, etc

Everything can be silly to some degree though?

But trying to come across as “this is absolutely objective”, just seems.. immature because it feels like insecurity shining through, and trust me, I know that feeling of insecure all too well..

But it feels like a matter of “yes but I HAVE to be right because it’s a standard, you’re wrong then!”

Well, it depends on the person, some people actually manage to argue subjectivity well

It also seems like you are conflating what those spheres of argumentation consist of. Saying that you like something is pure subjectivity, as you are not making any claims regarding the quality of the media. But saying that something is good is a bit more objective, since you are now making a quality judgement. This is where standards come in place and where many fun discussions are held

And, to take it further.. Yes, there are facts within spheres of discussion and story

So I can clarify that I suddenly think all facts within stories mean nothing

But that’s.. a broader topic

And one well beyond what I think I can put into words

It's also worth noting that being objective does NOT mean you are right. It means that you are attempting to make an argument that is devoid of any subjectivity, and rather focus on standards and facts that are quantifiable and measurable, perhaps even empirical

But what I can say is.. what people feel on a plot, that’s the important part.. their thoughts and feelings matter as much as another

And you need evidence for those, so if your evidence is not on point, well, you can be wrong

That’s the most solid way I can put it into a concrete terms

Well, I can say I absolutely agree

How you feel about something is 100% subjective, by design

Yes, that is what I mean

Like.. quick, bring up a book or movie

Or smth

How about the movie Cars 2

darkness

See, that's what's fun about this

Truth be told, I like Cars 2

Not love, not really like, just like

Nah, it was the worldwide race angle

Pretty fun to see those
