But it comes regularly every month and the events are set to a schedule to return and go away

Games as a service just means development still continues after release for it

Mmos are totally different to console games

This goes for MMOs mostly, but other games too

As an example, Overwatch

Console games shouldn't have this problem

Games as a service isn't a bad thing, it's bad when your base game isn't finished and you use it as a way to continue and make money

Anthem is famous for this very thing
