GT nails the feeling of progression down

Like in GT4, starting with a Golf racing in smol tracks and then, much later, disputing a 24 hour long race in Le Mans with a 787b

That's a feeling I haven't found anywhere else

You can have that feeling once you get your own car.

Though there's the small problem of having to respect traffic laws

Well, maybe not the racing aspect, but the liberating feeling of being in the driver's seat.
