Thankfully she's fairly smart for her age, she's just. so. goddamn. LAZY.

Oof

This hits rather close to home

Which is why she's blacklisted. I'd 100 times rather have an interested student with difficulties than a smart but lazy one.

Yeah I get where you're coming from

She's the last student today, so it gets lonely. At least there is a much more interested student that does classes together with her but goes home earlier, but he didn't come today.

It's amazing how much stuff you just understand about your language without knowing how it technically works. I have to explain to literally everyone how pronouns work, they don't even know what they are and still use them all the time.

This is why grammar is important people, it'll help you later on in life.

Don't sleep on it just because it's "lame" and "boring".

Esto dabbing irl?

Yeah. Only with the students though.

I did dab in front of my dad when I told him I had passed my driver's license.

Do you ever slap any students w/ a thesaurus when they overuse simple adjectives?

Using simple adjectives is already an improvement pain

Usually I have to explain what a noun is and how it differs from an adjective to begin with

Otherwise their heads fry when they try using indefinite articles.

If a student comes in already knowing the difference between the two, I consider them blessed and put them on the whitelist automatically.

Not as confusing as adverbs and compound adjectives.

Eh, adverbs aren't that hard to use, it's more a matter of memorizing the silly ones.

Compound adjectives are a mess though, it's something you can't really comprehend, you must "feel".

Usually the biggest difficulty comes from the Present Simple though, most of them just can't accept that auxiliary verbs are necessary.

B/c of tense since some introductory words already handle tense, so they don't have to add tense to the following word.

Yeah, like past simple

Like see and saw, but if didn't is preceding it, it's already in past tense and should be written as see.

Yeah, they get weirded out by it because it's totally different to Portuguese.

Where there are auxiliaries only in the perfect tenses.

But that's regarding the grammar, the actual biggest mistake is phonology x morphology, i.e. pronunciation x writing.

Because English suuuuuucks when it comes to that.

Right
The confusion that comes w/ homophones

They're, there and their

They even mistake our for hour, smh

Biggest takeway: English is hard and it succs
