I've always been curious

If keyblades take form based on your heart (like how Riku's Road to Dawn is based off the weapon he used in kh1) how come keyblade wielders from before bbs all use Starlight?

With Sora using kingdom key, I can get that since it's supposed to be THE keyblade of the realm of light, so theres only one of it, but I guess Starlight is infinitely replicable?

Also, I have a theory that if Sora didn't have kingdom key but instead had a keyblade that took form from his heart, it would be Shooting Star

Keyblades can come from a person’s heart, but they can also be forged. Everybody had Starlight back in the day because it was mass produced for these hundreds or thousands of child soldiers.

always wondered how they were forged, though. Because yen sid apparently has the ability to fuse two keyblades (kkd and star seeker for mickey) or just create a new one (braveheart for riku)

Sora: Hey riku have you seen the keys to the gummi ship?

I imagine it’s done through a synthesis process just like we have to do with the Ultima Keyblade in every mainline game.

Nomura’s never gone super in-depth on how exactly keyblades come into existence. On some occasions it’s inferred that one just materializes if a person is worthy, on others they have to be synthesized, and on others powerful keyblade wielders can just reach right into somebodies heart and forge a keyblade out of it.

LMAOOOOO

reaIIy of aII the things l wanna know, this is kinda one of them
how on earth did riku and mickey get their new keybIades

for mickey sure you can argue oh he enhanced it

but riku's broke

so.
how

i remember hearing riku did that with kairi, sorta reached into her heart. In the cutscene in kh2, riku just gives her Destiny's Embrace and says "sip this keyblade lean, ni🅱️🅱️a"

LMAO

I might be mistaken, but IIRC MoM did the same with the Foretellers.

so did Lea's, Xemnas just broke it in half, but after a second he pulls it out again

I wonder if Riku's broke in a more metaphorical stance, since Road to Dawn doesn't really represent his character arc anymore, as that finished up in DDD

weII in fairness, we never see it actuaIIy break

it just kinda disappears

Do you know what music I wanna hear in KH4 when we are fighting in a high tech city like Quadratum? Acid techno.

Yeah Xemnas didn’t break it, he just dispelled it. Lea was probably able to get it back after Xemnas screwed off or after Sora “killed” Xemnas.

I mean, we see him use it to help seal Kingdom Hearts.

I find it strange the only "Synthetic" Keyblade Sora's ever made has an uncanny resemblance to the X-Blade.

The Ultima looks like a botched X-Blade.

Mm, I can kinda see it?

I think it's more of Nomura being extra as hell with his designs.

Which Ultima though

KH1 Ultima is literally just a sword covered in flair

Definitely KH1 since it's the first one.

I think that's just a coincidence, then, for sure.

Because the X-Blade wasn't even a concept yet.

I think it was one of those coincidences that happens with writers where something lines up perfectly, it seems purposeful, but was a complete accident.

Because that's happened to me before, and it's pretty cool.

I can’t help but wonder if Nomura knew what he wanted that large machine in Hollow Bastion to be all the way back during KH1 development

Or if he just put it there so he could use it as a plot device later

I can’t see him going “yeah I’m gonna put time travel in this shit” when developing KH1 but hey maybe he is that crazy

It's Nomura.

I can see both happening.
