He did have a companion though.

It wasn't Riku, but it was a veteran resident of the Backrooms telling what to look out for.

He got stuck on Level 9 and Sora almost died to clump of all things.

He managed to get into the Void and escaped??

He also managed to clip into Level 9223372036854775807 and firetrucking escape??

The CO2 levels in 0 are rising. So most people either die in the offices, no clip deeper into the Backrooms, or escape back into reality.

Know what KH needs more of? Weapon variety. Not specifically for main characters, but definitely for playable characters

Like yeah, you got a bit of that with Sora's form changes in kh3, but most playable characters are "sword" users (and magic on the side, but that's not the weapon)

Days probably had the best example since you got to play as the organization, but only in multiplayer (I think, can't remember if you could do non-roxas characters in the single player campaign)

To be fair, I fully understand that the keyblade is iconic to the series, but that doesn't mean we can't have other weapons shown off (on non-sora characters)

stick, sword, wand, and shield all control the same way in that segment, so there's something of an illusion of choice (or more accurately, the wand and shield act as skins for a sword-type weapon)
