ehhh

it depends

earlier games from that period haven't aged all the best

usually in the looks department

i wouldn't straight up call xbox 360 or ps3 "retro"

even in a couple of years

they don't look that dated

I think this has deviated from KH talk and should be taken over to now. 💀

back to kingdom hearts

would you consider kingdom hearts 2 to be "Retro"

what is the cut off point for something to be considered Retro

If Mario and stuff was considered retro in the 2000s. Then KH1 and KH2 can be considered retro now

True

but, anything after the 6th generation should not be considered retro

The problem is, is that those older games still dominate public conscious, and are what people think when you say retro. People aren't going to jump right to PS2 era games

by that logic in a couple of years kingdom hearts 1.5 would be considered retro
71ELvGCKqL.png

which i'm going to say bullshit to taht

Id consider something that was rather primiative in tearms of everything in a medium

in gaming for example

The problem is that retro is kind of a looser term now. You could point to say, Super Mario Bros and Mario Sunshine. SMB is old, it's pixel-y, it's simple. Super Mario Sunshine was fresh and new and 3D. There was a large different in the look and feel of those games. There's a massive leap in the core look and feel of those games. But for stuff like Kingdom Hearts there largely isn't

the graphics of xbox 360 and ps3 i wouldn't consider primative in any way the games feel like playing blockbuster movies

Cause tbh like, games like Uncharted 1-3 are feeling kinda retro to my old ass for instance lol

Or like, Halo 1 or something

We aren't as likely to consider KH1 a retro game because it doesn't really feel or look to different at a glance from stuff nowadays, and fandom and internet culture has helped those older games stay fresher in peoples minds

PS3 and 360 will be considered retro to the people who grew up with it, like us for PS1 and 2 stuff

i would consider the cut off point for something to be retro would be 6 generation anything after is not retro

It's less weird to call Sonic 1 retro than it is to call like Sonic Heroes retro

You can't apply a cut off like that to something that largely denotes age

like PS3 and XBOX 360 were the first consoles to use HDMI

being a true hd console

i would not consider that retro

high defintion i would call "Retro"

I'm just saying by 2030 dont be surprised when people are calling Red Dead Redemption retro lol

Retro lost its meaning

what's next in like a couple years they going to call the firetrucking DAB and fortnite retro?

I mean- maybe idk man I'm not a taste maker lol

I'm saying years from now, a decade or two
