If i remember correctly, kh1 explaibed the keyblade permanently destroying heartless and the manga expanded on it

well in kh1 the keyblade was the only thing capable of defeating them

Its from the meeting with Leon and Yuffie

She explains that Sora is being tracked by the Keyblade and Leon exclaims that the Keyblade is the only thing that can fight them. They gain most of their information from Ansem's notes

It also establishes the keyblade being sentient
