We know that conversation between the two happened years, even decades ago. As far as Eraqus is concerned, his old friend has reformed. And why wouldn't he trust him? His years of being Xehanorts comrade and fellow student won out over his mistrust of what Xehanort said he was doing just recently. How many times do people think the best of people they love just to be let down again and again? It's fairly realistic in that sense. Eraqus has a stronger reason for being blind to Xehanorts dark side
