So... that's literally it? Sealing Kingdom Hearts in KH1 just took a light keyblade and a dark keyblade, and I misinterpreted the way Mickey spoke of it?

That... feels anticlimactic. And reinforces the point my friend made that Sora could do with a more personal keyblade.

Actually it was only two Keyblades to lock it. It just happened to be Kingdom Key and Kingdom Key D to lock it

In 2.8, Mickey talks about KKD like having a keyblade of the dark realm is the solution. I'm pretty sure he and Aqua both already had keyblades, so two light keyblades probably wouldn't cut it.

Well no, Mickey specifically did need to find a dark realm Keyblade.

Probably.

But any dark realm keyblade probably would have worked, too.

IMO.

I think it does have to be a dark realm Keyblade, yeah, Mickey and Aqua both have keyblades and he talks about KKD like it's just what he needed. I took this to mean he was looking for the second half of a relic pair, the two Kingdom Keys, but it's also possible he was looking for literally any dark realm keyblade.

Wait, but are you sure the Kingdom Key is just normal? Becuase the X-Blade has two Kingdom Keys.

The Kingdom Key is frustratingly functioning like a special relic which the starlights could have been based off of and an ordinary keyblade that could be manifested and wielded by just about anyone

I give up, this hurts, I can't do this.

I think roxas and xion are only able to get their own kingdom key because it's based off of Sora's

Roxas literally summons Sora's Keyblade so far as I know.

It isn't a copy, it's the same exact Keyblade.

Xion's is definitely weird replica stuff though, probably.

And yes, that means that Sora and Roxas can use the same weapon at the same time in two different places.

Hilariously.

Okay but if oathkeeper is supposed to be roxas' and oblivion is supposed to be xion's then clearly Sora has a separate keyblade in kh3

Oh

Oblivion isn't xion's

Oblivion is Ventus'

Basically.

Sora can dual wield because he has Ventus' heart and thus can summon his own Keyblade and Ventus'

Roxas can dual wield because Sora can, and Roxas is Sora's Nobody.

So Roxas also summons Sora and Ventus' keyblade when dual wielding.

Wait wait wait, rewind. What about oathkeeper and oblivion being roxas and ventus' keyblades?

This makes no sense anymore

How can they both have the same keyblade?

Now i'm really confused

"Q4: Why can Roxas dual-wield?
A: Because he can use both Sora’s and Ventus’ keyblades.

Sora can wield two keyblades at once because he has Ventus’ as well as his own. As Roxas is a part of Sora, he also can use two. In Days Roxas awakened his ability to dual wield after fighting Xion. In KHII once Sora absorbs him, he can also dual-wield.

[picture: Roxas and Riku fighting]

Roxas awakens his ability to dual-wield with his will to not forget Xion who also wielded a keyblade."

And they can both have the same Keyblade, presumably because they are, to an extent, the same person.

Just. Yknow.

Metaphysically fractured.

I get that, but I'm confused about the whole oathkeeper being sora's keyblade and oblivion being ventus' keyblade

Roxas doesn't have his own keyblade. He uses the same one Sora does. And dual wields in the same way.

Ergo, his primary keyblade is Sora's. The second one is Ventus'

In 358, roxas transforms his two kingdom keys into oath and obliv

Even though ventus' keyblade isn't kingdom key

Which is also why I think oblivion had to be from xion

Yeah, I'll grant that part is weird, but that interview is very specific about it not being Xion's.

He unlocked the ability because of losing her.

But he didn't take her weapon from it.

I think only Sora can use ven's keyblade

....

I literally just pasted an answer directly from Nomura explicitly saying Roxas uses ven's keyblade.
