It took forever for me to finish Re:Com. I got frustrated with the card system and didn't understand why my cards kept disappearing so I just gave up. When I came back to it I think I got it to the second Larxene fight and dropped it again. I finally finiished it only about a few months ago lol

I ain't doing no Riku side. The game was tough for me even for beginner.

Reverse/Rebirth was a walk in the park for me(except the Wonderland and final boss). I was very grateful for Ansem to explain why my cards were disappearing

It does explain quite a bit of stuff for Riku's character growth and also explains some things in 358 and KH2

Fair warning, you will probably be confused in KH2 when Riku reappears if you don't play through Riku's side in CoM. But of course it's your call

I personally wouldn't recommend crit for a first playthrough unless you are looking for a challenge. You do get a bunch of abilities to start with and some equipment but it is quite difficult

Crit does imply you understand the base mechanics of KH2 gameplay
