Man, I don't like Star Wars that much and I just hate it

I'm glad I never really got into it

Is there any franchise this year that had an allround good showing?

Endgame?

Or last year I suppose

Marvel did well

Shazam was fun too

IT 2 did great

Probably a few others

Shazam was super fun

I cant remember what marvel put out last year

laughsinnomura

Endgame and Spidey

Apart from dark phoenix I suppose

Oh, and that

FFH

quack

I mean I didn't hate dp, it had some nice action scenes

But it's a big downgrade from what x men used to be like

;~; I have no faith in marvel studios
At least the new mutants looks great

> why don't you have faith in marvel movies

Because they really didn't do spidey justice at all, and the rest of the films are based on c list characters that they can do pretty much whatever with. I don't think they can take something more serious and in depth like x men and do it justice

I'm not saying fox did it justice either, but the for at least 12 years they had decent to great film

Neither did I

First class?

Seriously?

I loved it

And I loved the shit out of logan

It was like a paper moon with gore

I feel like marvel has one formula and if you enjoy that then great

I dont really, it's tiresome

I cant think of any serious deviation except the first captain America film

Which i quite enjoyed

Mmm

Why is this out of order smh

I have seen it

I dont remember it but I remember enjoying it

Even then, like three films out of what is it, 25?

laughsinnomura

Damn, I wish people listened to me when I give ultimatums like that

I dont have a top 5

I guess my favourites are the first avenger and thor ragnarok

It was quite good

But then for some reason I quite like period settings

quack

It had good humour, I remember having fun with it, I suppose that's all you need from a film

I dont really have fun with much other mcu films laughsinnomura

I dont have an in depth knowledge of much of the characters but the ones I do I'm not entirely a fan of how they're treated

At least runaways finally got that TV show we've been waiting a decade for

Got canned tho

If it was aggressively different like BoP I suppose I could enjoy it a little more but its just straddling that line and changing things up in the most oddest of ways that it ends up not fulfilling either side of things - being comic accurate or being a totally different take

Yeah ?

I still have the comic to catch up on so there's that

laughsinnomura

MD is right I do make things go off topic

Well it's tangentially related to star wars right? xionsmug both disney

The third comic book run is ass

But the rest are whenthedarknessisjustright

Disney quack

I didn't think you were going to dislike this movie so much, Marsh hadesthink

Good list

I'd just swap TLJ and RoTJ

That aside it's basically my list as well

A New Hope is great but the plot can be a slow burn

ESB is straight up kick ass

And RoTJ has great first and third acts, but a... questionable second act

Yeah

Ewok funny hour special

That's actually part of why I didn't like TLJ that much, it honestly feels like the movie wastes time at some points

Like Kanto Bight

But I'd rather have some wasted time than RoTS pacing pain

That's true

The problem is that Finn's whole B plot feels hap hazard

I get the idea behind a lot of the movie, Rian Johnson is definitely more talented at writing + directing than JJ laughsinnomura

Not yet

I've heard it's pog though

hadesthink

I think Rian Johnson should really just stick to standalone stories

Because he's great at coming up with his own ideas and executing them.

But he feels unconfortable being curtailed by pre established lore

Which is a point of contention for many fans, that TLJ is good as a standalone but it damaged the overall trilogy

Well, that's what they say

Well, to be honest imagine trying to follow the Force Awakens

Which was good but very simple

Rian Johnson basically had to do his own thing

I do think that Rian left JJ on a tough spot, but JJ left him on a tough spot to begin with so it's all good laughsinnomura

I dislike how they treated Hux in TLJ

In TFA he was boring bad guy, and in TLJ he's the comedy relief character almost

And in TRoS he's a traitor? laughsinnomura

Well, to be honest I didn't think the comedy relief thing made him interesting

It was just a "well, that happened" moment

I also laughed at Kylo in TFA when he threw his tamper trantum so I don't know where I stand here pain

And then in TRoS JJ makes him the actual bonafide comedy relief after he turns good

laughsinnomura

To be fair at that part in TLJ I interpreted it more as Kylo getting rid of the light and the dark side and fishing his own path

The way to dawn if you will

But then Rey rejects him and he gets mad laughsinnomura

Yikes

xionsmug

Well, I didn't like both scenes unfortunately

Not even the "a lightsaber is supposed to be sacred!" thing, more the fact that I didn't think the comedic angle was appropriate.

If he lets the lightsaber slowly drop from his hands, that's something

I understand why he did it

The comedy aspect is the problem

Makes the tone clash awkwardly

Like, I understand that they're "movies about space wizards made for children" or whatever that means, but still

Oh no, I'm not saying the made Luke the comedy relief

I'm just saying the act of throwing the lightsaber over the shoulder was awkward and perhaps could've been done differently

THE SACRED JEDI TEXTS!!!

laughsinnomura

But at the end of the day that's my overall opinion of TLJ

A respectable attempt at doing something different that underachieves at many moments

I definitely like it more than TRoS, that's for sure

Yeah, I think people that downright despise TLJ are exaggerating a bit, it's not terrible

But it does have questionable moments, so I understand the criticisms.

I mean, if I were to be frank

I really hate it when people tell me not to take something so seriously

lol

Kelly Marie Tran is too good for Rose Tico

Fantastic actress saddled with a weird and at times pointless character

The "saving what we love" scene. Just... yikes

Nah, I mean weird in terms of the script

There's no real way to know if it was pointless or not

As far as we're aware the ship was still in a good enough state to crash into the cannon

I mean, that's so gay laughsinnomura

Nothing against that btw

Better than the absolutely hysterically hilarious "romantic interest" they asspulled for Poe in TRoS

Oh right, that's her name

Something like that

Poor Rose, getting friend zoned pain

kmt

Didn't realise star wars was into British slang

We need to push for the release of the five hour long JJ cut, obviously freerealestate

Ayyy lmao

Sigh

So much of TRoS feels hacky
