A lot of times this semester I've considered trading in my Wii, but the main thing that makes me hesitate is if there's ever a Kingdom Hears game released on the Wii. 'Cause that would suck for me, you know?

 

I'd be perfectly content if Square Enix never released a Kingdom Hearts title on the Wii. I kind of doubt it, since it seems like the major titles (not to diminish the value of the side stories and the prequel of course) are on home consoles (PS2 only so far), and I doubt they're going to release a non-handheld KH game again until Kingdom Hearts III. I think.

 

Obviously it looks like it takes a lot less time to develop a handheld game instead of a home console game---so I don't think SE is going to be spending a ton of time making more home console KH games before KHIII, right? I think Re:Chain of Memories was unusual, but it also was a remake. I guess they could make a Re:358/2 Days or something, but I feel like SE would be more likely to release a home console game on a Sony system since that's what they've done in the past.

 

Though then again, they won't be making any more PS2 games, and even doing a remake of a KH game on the PS3 would take a long while (and Nomura has said he'd like to remake KH1, but probably won't before KH3), so I guess that rules out remakes on home consoles. Even if they were thinking about releasing a side story on the Wii, that would still take a long while to develop---although probably not as long as development time for a PS3 or 360 game.

 

So, do you guys agree that it's unlikely a Kingdom Hearts title will come out on the Wii? I need feedback on my speculation as to whether or not I keep my Wii because of this.

In the ultimania interview I think it was stated that they were thinking of releasing it on the wii in a series of episodes like the original coded. So it definately has been considered.

If it was released in a series of episodes, then would that imply it being released as a download in the online store? As WiiWare?

 

I'll go read up on that interview, I haven't checked that yet for fear of spoilers, but I guess if I find something starting spoiler-like I'll just skim for the part about the possibility of a Wii release.

Well, Nomura did say that he wanted a KH game on all consoles. , it PROBABLY could be possible to make a KH game on the Wii. and yes, Nomura said that if it was on the Wii, it would be in episodes similiar to that of Sonic the Hedgehog 4. But I kinda doubt that there will be a KH game on the Wii. Seeing the fact that Nomura is busy with other projects right now.

No, because sony's consoles/handheld are way expensive, plus Nomura said that hye wand a KH game on every console, INCLUDING the Wii. And since Sony's handhelds and Consoles are always over-priced, it KH wouldn't make too many sells as it does now. So, having Kh on different consoles will save the trouble of buying a sony handheld/console for just one game. And it will boost their sells on KH games as well.

I've considered buying a PS3, but the thing is...they're just so. Frickin'. EXPENSIVE. Like if I wanted to fully invest in getting the PSEye and Move controller, I'd have to shell out $400? And it doesn't even come with the Move version of the Wii Nunchuk (Is it called a Navigator?). Or if I just wanted a PS3 and regular controller, I'd spend $300. I don't even want a PS3 that bad. Like there are one or two games on it that I find interesting, but the only thing that's really going to make me get it is if Kingdom Hearts comes out on it. Which I feel like it might.

But then the new PS3s can't play PS2 games (Can't play KH and KH2? NOOO!), and buying a refurbished PS3 is not the most attractive option for me.

 

It annoys me to buy an expensive console to play a KH game, but the only other option is to...not play the game. Ick. Buying a refurbished PS2 slim was fair to play KH and KH2, buying a PSP to play BBS hurt my wallet more than any other system has in a long while (meaning I did extra work to save up money and emptied basically everything I had for the PSP and its necessities). Buying a PS3 is going to make me feel pretty hollow, but I'm not buying one until a KH game is out on it.

 

I was thinking on replacing my refurb PS2 slim with a new one that works well (mine's funky sometimes), but I might just want to save myself $100 for something that pops up in the future. Or if remakes of KH and KH2 could be guaranteed, that'd be nice to know and I wouldn't bother replacing my PS2. Who knows, really. Anywho, I'm keeping my Wii.

But then again, maybe it could be released on the Wii, like in the last interview (in Re:coded Ultimania I think), he said he put Re:coded on the DS because it was the most commonly owned system, right? Didn't he almost put Re:coded on the Wii as WiiWare but changed his mind because the DS is more popular?

I think that a kingdom hearts game will come out on the wii someday but there realy busy down at square enix with final fantasy versus 13 (aka. the 13 series).

coded was originally intended to be released via Wiiware, and Nomura has expressed interest in the system, so it's not impossible. It's just really unlikely.

The DS is the most popular handheld in the world. It was a good decision to put remake it for that console.

Ever thought the price of the PS3 would go down in 3 years?

They'd probably find some good way to use the Wii controllers rather than just have it work with the classic controller. You know, they like like using the unique features of different systems. I'd rather it be released as an official game on a disc instead of through WiiWare though.

You misread what I said. I said Playstation and handhelds, which means not only on Playstation and its handhelds, but nintendo handhelds as well, which Square has been doing all this time. By the time KH3 comes out, the PS3's price will already be low, just like the PS2's prices were already low when it passed after 6 years. I know what Nomura said, but I said "should" because its just my opinion on the matter.

Hope so. $250 is still an ouch, but I could handle $200. I'd be more willing to bite though if they brought back backwards compatibility. Which they probably won't. But even if they sold the PS2 KH games on the PSN, I'd be willing to buy them over again.
