Dude, Mauler is the same person who has made essays after essays on why The Last Jedi is bad and the whole sjw stuff

At some point you just need to know that it's just not for you and move on

I would like not to draw arbitrary time limits over how long your reviews and/or responses can be

reviewing a review is so dumb

I still don't get this whole "political agenda" stuff. Am I the only one that gives a shit about this?

There is value and merit in reviewing criticism

Saying there isn't is honestly close-minded

It's all about the approach

It's not when the whole point boils down to them just not giving a shit about TLOU2 and just doing it because there's a tiny market for it currently

what's close minded is trying to find flaws in someone who likes a game you dont

If you actually go through a person's argument and comb them, exploring them and also using them as a springboard to explore other topics, that is entirely fine

That is not close minded at all

And if reeks of an argument someone who did not watch the podcast in question would deliver

As you can not possibly be sure as to if they simply attack and insult the person in question of if they're more interested in exploring the arguments given in the review itself

I didn't watch the whole thing, I will agree on that. But from what I watched it was not a review of a review and more of a dunk

I will watch the podcast myself and see what it's all about

a debate and reviewing someone's opinion which is obviously subjective just to try and prove them wrong

are different

Except you don't know if it's that

Saying that the sole purpose is "proving the person wrong" is reduction to absurdism

It can be that, for sure. There are many bad faith responses out there

a review is an evaluation

and theres something very arrogant

What I noticed after watching and reading a lot of positive and negative reviews is that a lot of people live in an echo chamber and come up with the most ridiculous things I have ever seen to justify why they are right and others are wrong. Especially regarding the story decisions. Most reviews I have seen argue against certain story decisions with assumptions or their own headcanon which means a discussion with those people is pointless in the first place

about evaluating someone's review

There isn't

There can be

But it's not a surefire thing

As I've said, it depends on the approach taken

But this wasn't the approach you are looking for

That's my whole point

It was a dunk on their review

Not a fair discussion

normally discussions should happen by talking directly to those people

when u take a group to review someone's opinion whithout the concerned person

that's way better

its already not fair

I heavily disagree with that

It can be unfair, if it's done in bad faith and the responding party constantly strawman's the views of the one being responded

But it can be fair if done in good faith and with a good dose of iron-manning

HBomberGuy once did a nearly 2-hour long video defending Dark Souls 2 and dunking on MatthewMattosis in the process, misrepresenting his points and disingenuously editing out important parts from it. And few people bat an eye.

MauLer then did an in-depth 10 hour long deconstruction of Bomber's response and played his entire video in order to provide the most accurate framing possible. And people shit on it because it's too long.
