the reason I mentioned FFXIV getting criticism of not being a MMORPG is this btw

r/MMORPG absolutely hates FFXIV

they went even so far that some of them grouped up to harass asmongold ingame so he stops playing the game

and 4chan caught wind of it too

and during his stream asmongold made fun of these losers

and ffxiv andies went into the threads to defend their game

and r/mmorpg doesn't like mmorpgs that focus on single player content

and I firetrucking hate that these people do have a point

Why can't we have more maps that let you reveal the map by just like, walking around and discovering it yourself? That's fun, not knowing where to go and forging your own path

because of handholding

it's why I play botw and totk without the towers

Also, something I was thinking about earlier: would ffxv be better or worse if noctis couldn't use the same weapons as gladio/prompto/ignis? So no great sword, no knives, and no gun/machines

depends on his potential moveset. if he can only wield one weapon they could have put the resources into making one style great

they modded FF16 ifrit into the game for summoner

that's a layered question because:
1 - launch game didn't let you use the other characters, so the only way to use those weapons were through noctis
2 - the battle system is so firetrucked already that removing weapons doesnt do much damage to it either way
3 - for it to be a good thing, noctis would have needed different weapons to replace those, PLUS fully controllable teammates like the DLC added, PLUS a battle system that rewards the use of different weapons and playstyles like 7R games

Well, not the only way, but the only way that didn't rely on the computer-controlled party members to help for sure
