Thing is, Nintendo has become nearly synonymous with video games as a whole. If people want their grip to loosen, then the competition needs to make itself more prominent in the space. I'm not saying no one thinks ps or Xbox put out video games or anything like that, but I'd wager it's not the first thing people think of when a stranger says they play video games. Hell, even your mom° calls all of them "Nintendo" instead of actually saying the name
