I got so done with AC when I heard that they killed off the main antagonist that transcends the entire timeline in a comic

but then, which one is better ?
i like X and XVI a lot but I think 7R really has that strong action feel with that added strategy on top it just feels right
fights are way more cinematic than a turn based game, but it has more depth than just comboing

I mean personally, I like ATB and action so this is the best of both worlds for me
Greg Baldwin is seriously GOATed though for rightfully calling this shit out.
I just don't feel 'waiting for cooldowns' is all that strategic
But there isn't any cooldowns in 7R?
Yeah there's weaknesses and stuff but otherwise I don't really see it as a top tier rpg system
i was more thinking about the amount of options/skills
The ATB imo might as well function as one
you have ot think about how to spend it
But its not a "cooldown", you actively work for it
And as you get further into the game(s), you get more options to get more faster
it's a limiter like MP and cooldows
Rebirth even added more combat functions outside of ATB to get it to work much better with the ATB, its a bit hard to call that coodlown for me
Holy shit I just read through this whole post, he nuked their asses lmao
Sure I don't disagree on it being a limiter, I am just a bit confused on the take here
I guess the reason I feel that way is with ATB in the old games you had to wait til it filled up to do anything, right? Well in the remakes you can attack, jump, dodge, and sometimes thats all you need to do outside of boss battles. So in that sense it's an action game, but since your other offense and defense options not to mention items are locked to the ATB, that's why it feels like a "cooldown" to me. Cause like you can already do the basics of combat you're just waiting several seconds to be able to pop a potion or something
Idk it made/makes more sense in my head I'm probably just communicating it wrong lol
no wonder I don’t Iike either of them much ❕ I’II give 16 this though, at Ieast it commits to being a hack and sIash Remake tries to pIease both but they both have one issue I can’t stand they expect you to use aII your big boi mega abiIities onIy when the enemy is staggered, otherwise the cost is too high (cooIdown) and the payoff not worth it (mediocre damage)
16 does not commit to being a hack and slash...
It stops commiting 5 hours in when you learn all the skills
I want stagger to be gone really
