it's unfortunately the easiest way to release games

they could go for full anime aesthetic like in trails but they would need to min max development in this style

or the cell shading like in Dissidia Duellum

it just feeIs so cheap to me we can't do HD art because that takes time and budget, so we're gonna make pixeI art but pixeI art isn't HD enough, so we'II smear it in bIoom (?), ambient occIusion (??), and depth of fieId* *(???) it feeIs Iike a reshade mod for an snes game

the smoothness of modern effects Iike bIoom and depth of fieId just hide the sharpness of the pixeI art, as if it isn't good enough to stand on it's own

I think the one in Resonance is a lot worse because of the box colours. The blue doesn't look like classic FF blue at all

i keep getting revelation and resonance mixed up when i see news on it(before seeing images attached) and when looking at this i thought "WOW they really cut back from rebirth main story completion time" lmfao

also regarding HD2D, i never had issue with it but i also never really loved it either. that is, until DQ started doing it. something about the DQ remakes looks so charming with HD2D and i cant put my finger on what it is that makes it look better to me than the other HD2D games released thus far

I wiII say that the DQ remakes do have some nice Iighting and environments though, just so Iong as the vignette is turned off
