I've never thought about that but it is strange, especially in rebirth where there's so many alternative cutscenes that you can experience

I think that might be why. Having the alternate options and displaying them in a proper manner is too much hassle.

Basically lowering the amount of side content and somehow making the said content actually entertaining and not boring, which will make players actually enjoy them and not groan and moan every single time they step into a different zone/region

And they wouldn't have to constantly be annoyed at Chadley and Mai

Again, there has to be a balance when it comes to deciding how much side content you want the game to have and not let the content ruin the story

Because although I'm only in Junon at the moment (paused Rebirth to play Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter), I literally am slowly but surely getting annoyed at the amount of time I'm spending on side content compared to the main story itself

Side content is always a good thing to have in order to help us with the main story, like leveling up, getting new equipment etc.

But just not the Rebirth way

It's great that they're lowering side content in Revelation, but now Hamaguchi ruined it by making them optional to do
