People on Twitter who still live in the 90s being pissed about what he said regarding turn based combat and identity of the franchise

He said that the franchise can't live on past success and that FF is no longer a must play franchise

and he's right

People are pissed that they want to broaden the audience because guess what in a few years all of us will be dead and they can't rely on the old audience

Im a FFIV fan and i respect them for doing something different

people are also on full doomium that this means no longer turn based combat but this isn't what he said.

they can still make a turn based mainline ff game but with the new audience.

Do i miss their type of turn based combat? Yes, but FF still has mechanics that can work on action rpg style

XV was full action and a lot of people still played 7R which was less active in terms of combat

15 combat left a lot of people sour cause it was bad

yeah I think this is the reason why a lot of people in this fandom call everything that is action related "button mashing" because they are projecting XV onto other action games

Gotta say I agree with Yoshi- I looked up the stuff. The original 6-10 games are great; but the franchise has ALWAYS been about doing different things. Gameplay, setting and stories, I'm honestly glad 16 is a major departure in the sense that it's keeping that old spirit alive.

Like I'll always love and miss turn based combat, but, Final Fantasy is more than the combat its the sum of its parts.

This is why I dislike 15 tbh

I hope they make XVII turnbased and then XVIII action again just out of spite

Like, I always see people praise the first 6 games and will decry games like 7 for changing or modernizing too much or whatever but like, 1-3 are all experimental, 4-6 just refined them.

And like 7-9 play similar but they still have different mechanics and vibes.

Let's be honest if 16 was turn based it wouldn't be as appealing to the general public
