VA roles are for VAs only and regular actors who actually ENJOY doing VA as well

i want to counter so much of what DaZ said but in short all i'll say is
"Chill bro, it's a kids movie about Mario which the most depth it gets is level 1-2 underground"

it's beyond Iame that's the onIy defense there is

it's a plenty fine movie filled with passion for the games and does a great job for what they set out to do

in fact id argue we got way more than surface level with the characters for at the minimum Mario, Bowser, and Peach

Mario started simple and has stayed that way

oh silly duck we apologize that Mario wasn't made by Square enix and each person has 30 min backstories to them

the defense of "it's mario" 1000% works here

From what I have seen of the movie, it does the same. It doesn't need to do more, it made up a story, added some characterization (in Peach that I mostly see) and that's all you need in a Mario movie
