So like, how do difficulties work for the raids?

because people complained that the final raid tier in arr was too easy so SE made it hard

you do a raid tier and then you can unlock the savage version

and savage needs a preformed group

In JP it's a little bit different. JP raiding scene just queues the raids like they would do for normal raids too with the difference that people who use this kind of queue system already cleared and know the boss. Practice groups in JP are always via preformed group.

In EU and US we use preform group finder for both

for clear and practice

So do the mechanics change on sawage difficulty? And I'm assuming you get higher item level loot

yes better loot and new mechanics

and also a new boss too sometimes

since stormblood the final boss of a raid tier also has a secret savage only phase

So should I even care about doing savage raids in the earlier expansions or does it really matter?

you won't really find groups for the earlier expansions because you can do them later unsync at max level with only 2-3 people

because people want the mount drops

and transmogs

savage is usually only the current raid tier

where you can find groups

some people also do synched parties for blue mage content

if you clear heavensward and stormblood savage raids with a full party of blue mages and synched you get a morbol mount

How do I get gear from pvp? Is just a currency that you get from completing battles or do you have to win?

pvp has two currencies. one is wolfs marks and the other are crystal trophies.

you get crystal trophies through leveling your battle pass/series.
and wolfs marks is the standard reward you get from every match

for both you can buy transmog, hairstyles and emotes. winning only gives you more series and wolfs marks but the difference isn't that big.

the pvp daily gives a lot of series level, exp for your jobs and also wolfs marks

I believe in low level the pvp daily even gives an entire level

Ok so for transmog

Do you have to have the item on you that you want to transmog or can you do it for any items that you've collected

you need to have the item. if you buy glamour prisms you can store them in your glamour dresser at the inn

the transmog system is unfortunately one of the parts that really suck. you still have to manually put the item into your dresser and after that you can access the skin

people have been begging for an automated system for years now but it takes away too many dev resources apparently 💀

PvP turned for BLM players into pve

and now it's fine again after the nerfs
